UChicago vs. Georgetown vs. St. Andrews

So I have the choice between Chicago, georgetown, and st. andrews. I hope to work in management in Europe after college and am wondering which of these is the best for me. I know that within the U.S context chicago and georgetown are far more prestigious than St. Andrews, but since I’m looking to work in Europe I was wondering which of the three would hold the most weight abroad. I know St. Andrews is usually considered within the top 10 schools in the U.K, but even then would an employer in the U.K still view a Chicago or Georgetown grad than a St. Andrews grad?

Chicago is better known, even in Europe. Do you have EU citizenship/ residency which would allow you to work in the UK? If not you would have to be sponsored by a firm, NGO or other organization. That would typically involve an internship and then potentially a job offer if the firm likes you enough, but the EU is pretty strict. On the other hand, recruiters want Chicago grads and you could put in for an EU post for a domestic firm or the US branch of a UK firm, then transfer. Another, perhaps better option is to go to MBA school in the UK or France/Switzerland where recruitment is much more likely.

If it was me I would pick Chicago because it is the best of the 3 in most areas.

Congrats on your great options! Of course, this is personal preference, but I would go with Georgetown. It is known to have a more pre-professional vibe than Chicago, which could be a great thing for someone with a set goal for their career. (It seems to me like you do, with management and location all planned.) In my area, (mid-atlantic, closer to D.C. than Chicago) I think a Georgetown degree would carry more weight, but I don’t know what to say about what would serve you best from an international perspective. I hope this helped a little bit, even though the only thing I know about St. Andrews is their royal alumnus!

I would contact St.Andrews and ask for statistics on placing their US students in the UK. It is difficult to secure employment after graduation without a citizenship…

If you are a dual citizen, then apply to schools in London (LSE, UCL) to maximize networking opportunities.

I would pick Chicago out of your three current options.
