Congratulations @texantrail ! My suggestion is to look online for gap year programs/internships/job opportunities. What state/region do you live in if I may ask? Not sure if they release calls by state or at random. Also, did you send your LOCI? If so, how quickly did your RAC respond? Thank you!
@TexanTrail can you give us more info about the applicant if possible
Filled out LOCI (and expression of gap year interest as well) week after waitlisting. Large Competitive Public School in Texas.
@TexanTrail was it RD or ED2?
RD
Congratulations! UChicago actually posted some gap year ideas recently, and many other schools have similar resources. Here are a few:

Hey guys so I was waitlisted and have also sent my LOCI. I was wondering why might have they accepted someone off the waitlist before May 1st?
@cheekyactor4 The applicant was accepted off the z list, not the waitlist. Waitlist should be releasing shortly if there are spaces available.
waitlist means for 2023 ?
word on the street is that there will be virtually no 2023 waitlist admits. Only special situations. Everything else is z-list.
So then would it be more likely if they would be admitting from the waitlist for them to do that after May first?
@blackbeard Where did you hear that?
Insider info. I talked to someone who is in direct communication with the admissions team. It is second hand to me, but I am quite confident in the quality of the intel.
Was told by the admissions office there is no room for 2023 anymore. Was asked if offered would you take a gap year with guaranteed 2024 admission. Will there be any available slots after May 1st my guess is probably not. But there is no way to tell with absolute certainty.
no room for 2023 means, everyone admitted are committed ?
I’m guessing it means that a bunch of people committed and they’re expecting a high yield
I just got off the waitlist today at UChicago!!!
@G123456718 can you give info, like what state and for what year?
I’m from New York City. I’m a senior who was offered admissions to the college next year.
Did AO call you, email you or both?
