Not tonight. I’m still pending, but not liking the way this looks. :(

Rejected.

GPA: 4.0
IGETC: Foreign language missing (I’m a foreign high-school graduate where English is not a primary language.)
Tag: Yes
Major pre-req: For psych major, there wasn’t any REQUIRED courses, but I finished half of what was recommend to take.
CA resident.

I confirmed with UCI admissions that missing foreign language courses would not affect my admission decision. My essays were strong according to my two Ph.D professors at CCC. All I can think of is I didn’t finish the recommended major pre-reqs.

Wow, 4.0 getting rejected? I know someone missing major pre-reqs too and they got in with a 3.5. Guess with a 3.17, even if I did finish that many recommended pre-reqs I am still screwed…

i think foreign language is sadly a big deal, they wont let you go to college without it. you cant get an AA without it either.

I didn’t take any foreign language, but I have that requirement filled out at high school. He called UCI admissions and confirmed that they would not affect his admission. whisper11, how many pre-reqs were you missing?

Recommended prereqs shouldn’t matter that much. People have been getting admitted without them.

^ Not true. I got my A.A. degree already without foreign language.

@kokonutz
There is not pre-requisites for psych major (told by UCI rep who came to my college) but I think I’m missing 2 out of like 8 recommended courses.

Well the Psychology course had some very random pre-reqs that were ONLY for UCI Psych. Hopefully they looked and saw that because I based my schedule on their assist.org website, which is why I am taking Java and Calc 1 & 2.

You were only missing 2? I am missing 2!! Calc 2 in the summer, and a computer science class!

I’m looking at assist right now and there are maybe 11 recommended classes.

Part of me’s hoping this is all a mistake, that UCI accidentally sent out rejections to pending applicants, like how UCSD sent out acceptances to rejected applicants before. Sigh.

I wish I applied last year. From the looks of it, getting accepted this year was super hard and kind of random…For a second I had a weak moment and thought about spending another year at my CC to see it I could get accepted into UCLA. EFFF that though. I’m taking the bird in the hand (UC Davis)

I’ll give them a call tomorrow and let you guys know what I hear. UCI wasn’t my first choice but it was certainly unexpected.

Still nothing, I don’t know how I’m going to sleep now :|

Don’t lose hope, this might’ve been a random batch of rejections before some more waves of acceptances :)

I might call tomorrow too, as in my case the decision was made by both UCI Admissions and the director of the Public Health program. I wanna know if I would’ve gotten in if it was just up to UCI Admissions or something lol

Rejected

Major: Bus Admin
GPA: ~3.2 (went to a 4-year private for 3 semesters before coming back to cc for 3 semesters)
No TAG

Oh well, at least I have UCSD. Still waiting on UCSB…

looks like everyone got theirs at the same time. maybe no more for tonight?

drahcirnaw, did you just get yours right now, or earlier tonight?

@kokonutz I think within the hour. I checked at around midnight and there was nothing yet.

Thanks, do you have any idea why you may have been rejected?

To those of us still pending, don’t forget that people were still being admitted on the very last possible day (and beyond) last year.

ONE SEMESTER/TWO QUARTERS OF CALCULUS
|AND ONE SEMESTER/ONE QUARTER OF
|STATISTICS ARE REQUIRED

I just saw this on assist, even though it says it’s not required at the top, I guess this is considered GE? This is the only portion that says required. Bring Spring I’ll only have 1 quarter finished and my last quarter in the Summer…Oh no!!

Maybe it was because of going to a 4-year before. They were the only school to not allow TAGs for people who have attended a 4 year. I did have a upward grade trend though (2.6 to 3.8) coming back.
