UCI Admission Invitation to Enhance Application

I got an email today with the discussion title in the subject line. In my UCI admissions portal I have two (optional), essay prompts. What does it mean?!?!? I’m nervous.

A. ESSAY RESPONSE #1
In your application you may have mentioned an extraordinary talent/skill or academic achievement. This may include participation in Junior Olympics, national debate competitions, recognition for musical talent, etc. Please take this opportunity to share with us more detailed information about the level of your achievement, depth of participation, and passion for this particular area.

B. ESSAY RESPONSE #2
Please describe any special circumstances that you would like us to consider that may have affected your ability to achieve academically. This may include personal circumstances, family experiences, and opportunities that were or were not available at your school or home. If you participated in an educational preparation program (i.e., MESA, Puente, CC Honors Program, U-Link, etc.) please describe your level of involvement and how each program was beneficial to you.

C. Fall grades 2016

I have about a week deadline in which to fill this section out.
Thank you!

Sometimes it means you could be borderline, mentioned some EC or academic achievement in your essays or EC’s list that they want more detail or some compelling reason (medical/disability) that may have impacted your grades. They just clarification to make a more informed admission decision. This is a great opportunity so take advantage and good luck.

So does that mean it’s a good thing to sway their decision? Or is it a bad thing? Thanks A lot @Gumbymom

It is a good thing.

I can’t upload mine because MyAdmissions is down

You should contact them. Send out an email. MOST IMPORTANTLY, have your responses ready so as soon it is up, you can post them.

I got these last year for both UCI and UCLA. I got into UCI but not LA. Try your best on them.

You’re a borderline applicants and your response to this request will determine the final admission decision.
