***UCI APPLICANTS C/O 2023***

But on Reddit, just search UCI Poll - Results in ApplyingToCollege

@celizaviles Based on last year’s thread, it started on Friday (yesterday) and continued throughout Saturday morning, some were released on Sunday (I forgot what time) and the rest of the acceptances release Monday morning. Waitlist begins on Monday afternoon and continues until Tuesday morning. After that, on Tuesday afternoon and throughout the week is all rejections.

where is the reddit thread?

This is so cruel of UCI to do rolling. My D just checked and no updates. I think my D got decent stat. Really hopeful. 1st major Public Health Science and alternative is Pharmaceutical. Still waiting.

Thank you! That was extremely helpful!

@jsidreid Also, the Reddit thread was updated and it seems that’s cognitive science has been released

I honestly do not think they are notifying the applicants based on majors… it can be random for all we know. I got accepted for biological sciences this morning while other got accepted yesterday.

The poll only had ~100 responses, which means it’s not accurate because there are over a hundred majors at UCI.

@collegeboundf19 Do you know around what time you received your decision? I have the same major and still have nothing

Do you think it’s worth it to keep checking the portal?? Or do they just sent out one wave per day??

From the Reddit Poll:

There has NOT been acceptances for the following major as a first choice:

Business Economics

Computer Game Science

Data Science

Education Science

Environmental Engineering

Philosophy

Physics

Software Engineering

Undeclared Humanities

Undeclared Social Sciences

My first choice was music but the director told me I was “waitlisted for the program” so I assume I was evaluated for my second major, psychology. I haven’t gotten anything yet. Is it worth it to keep checking?

Please do not spread rumors. The poll is NOT accurate. Wait patiently and you will get your decision. I know it’s hard (I’m still waiting too!)

If they already released decisions for some history majors, does that mean that the rest that applied under that major (as their first choice) either got waitlisted or rejected?

From my understanding, acceptances are rolled over a few days. There’s just a lot of posts both on reddit and college confidential whether or not a certain major has been released so that poll is just a list of the majors that have had at least 1 acceptance

my S was received his acceptance on the second day of notifications (i.e. this morning)–so definitely a rolling process going on with UCI. we’re in-state, so im still giddy that he doesnt necessarily have to go to Toronto now (even though they have a great engineering school)!

@sf94121 totally agree. this process has been brutal and I wouldn’t wish it on anybody! After 4 years of breaking his butt my S still got rejected from UCSB, USC, UCLA, Cal Poly and waitlisted at UCSD with stronger stats than many who have received multiple acceptances at UC schools. Waiting to hear from UCI is just agonizing!

@DStepler - yeah, that’s been one of the most disheartening parts of this whole process–i.e. seeing my S’s rejections at all the other UCs (except Santa Cruz, waitlisted), despite his stats being higher than acceptees for less competitive majors. Had to keep reminding him (AND MYSELF) that ALOT of smart qualified students get rejected by UCs b/c engineering is so impacted. Personally, I’d like to see UC give preference to in-state students–CA is practically a country and should be supporting its citizens! UCI was the last hope for him to stay in Calfiornia (didnt apply to CSUs, except CalPoly, where he’s waitlisted). Fortunately and gratefully, Irvine came through. Good luck to you and your S!
