<p>@ninaxnina Yeah, its unfair. California residents should get first priority (they are called UC for a reason) but I guess in the admission staff’s eyes they think that a smart kid AND money is better than a smart kid and the improvement of the community the college resides. On the other hand, many students at my school desire to go oos and admissions work much like tariffs: if you make it harder for oos to come in, the other states will make it harder for in-state-students to go out. Also, if the school receives more money from oos students, in a way they benefit the community because this money then goes to taxes (and if they get money from oos students now, maybe our children will have an easier time).</p>
<p>The rejection for last thing was something I read about “rolling basis” methods so I think Irvine did this in the past</p>

<p>D’s friend got an email early March 17 that her portal changed, but could not see a change until today, March 18.> She was accepted and we are OOS. Don’t know her stats or exact major. D has not heard anything. </p>

<p>@Bigboi1223 Your chances are not slim if you have below a 4.0. It all depends on if you are a well rounded person. (which is why it takes longer to reply to your application because they need to find out if you are)</p>

They received an email to check their portals and they both got in. I’m not surprised though. Both of their stats are great. </p>

<p>I don’t think ucr is a really bad school. I think their curves are much generous than uci. It’s just the location that people may not like. But it’s a bit easier to get a decent GPA at ucr than at uci. Just my opinion.</p>
