**UCI Class of 2018 Official Decisions Thread**

@emperorwu and all, please just stop worrying. I hope you guys have a plan B or a plan C. My top wish is to go to ucsd but ucsd wait-listed me. My plan B is to go to ucsb, ucd, or uci. I am fortunate to have gotten acceptance from ucsb already (top applicant), now waiting for uci, and I seriously don’t know which one I’ll choose if I get into uci as well.
My plan C had been going to community college for two years and then transferring to ucla if I didn’t get into any of the top 6 ucs. A couple of my sister’s friends (reasonably good students) were like me, applying for only a selected few schools (all uc’s), but they were not fortunate enough to get any acceptance. They ended up going to community college for two years and then transferred to very good schools (One at uc berkeley, and one at ucla, I heard).
Life can go as far and as good as you want it to be, just always have a plan. It will work out in the end.
Good luck everyone!

@emperorwu I appreciate your maturity. Very sound advice for a young person. My s is also waiting anxiously but I told him things will work out. The TAG program in California is not such a bad idea because I will be saving a lot of money that first 2 years.

My son was accepted to UCI on March 14.
UC GPA is 4.45
UW GPA: 3.97
SAT: 1890 ACT: 27
SAT SUB Chem 800 US Hist. 770

Also accepted to UCD, UCSB, UCSD, Baylor & Santa Clara. Waiting for UCLA tomorrow.

Good Luck to everyone who is still waiting!

Son’s major is Chemistry

Anyone think a large batch is still to come? Or did they already accept some 24k freshman already?

@yoyome, do you know if you attend the honors program at a cc that you are guaranteed to get into ucla or would there still be a chance that you would not be admitted. Thanks.

Did anyone even posted a rejection yet? I feel like all I’m seeing on this forum is acceptances which makes me worried cause I’m still waiting

I haven’t seen any rejections yet.

I’m not sure where to post this. We’re still waiting on UCI but my son was accepted to UCSC (CompE) and Cal Poly Pomona (ChemE). I have a question about SIRing to either of these. Is there any impact on waiting until the end of April or should a decision be made quickly? Is there any chance of running out of housing or being denied admission? Might as well ask as well, the pros and cons of Santa Cruz versus Pomona.

@ralphyboy
I am u lol
But guys just friday isn’t the last day it is through march 31.

Everyone calm down
Last year, I knew many people got accepted between march 21 and 31

Looks like the postings had dwindled down quite a bit. I assume many had received their e-mails and were accepted - CONGRATS; otherwise, I would expect to see them venting about not receiving the e-mails. As for the rest of us, … still waiting …

@Aerocollege – My understanding is that UCLA has an agreement with many CC that if the students were in the Honor program (maintaining at least a 3.0 GPA I think) and are in certain majors, they are guarantee a spot in UCLA. I know someone was admitted to UCLA thru this agreement. Good Luck!

@Aerocollege you had better check about that cc UCLA thing if UCLA is the one and only (mind you I assume you’d only be doing that if you didn’t get in directly). UCLA and Berkeley do NOT participate with the TAG guarantee with community colleges. They may have a separate agreement as @2014CB has heard, but if they do it might also only be with SOME colleges. Check their web page about transfers.

On the other hand, they both STILL accept a lot of CC transfers, guarantee or not, and their acceptance rate for transfers is considerably higher than for freshmen.

YAY I GO INNNNNNNN

Still nothing for me. I think I’ll just give up and check for my rejection on the 31st. This anxiety is killing me. **** you, UC Irvine

Thanks @collegevetting I checked and the CC that I was interested in is on the list. Of course it’s not guaranteed that you will get in. It might be better just to go to another four year university and then get a masters there.

@emmelined, did you just get your notification today? Congrats!

@Aerocollege that is definitely something to think of if it is not going to be your terminal degree. Your undergrad gpa will be important in applying for your masters.

FYI - just announced that President Obama will speak at the UCI Commencement in June.
<a href=“President Obama to speak at UC Irvine commencement celebration – UCI News”>http://news.uci.edu/press-releases/president-obama-to-speak-at-uc-irvine-commencement-celebration/</a></p>

What does that have to do with college admissions? It just means that traffic in Orange County will be backed up once again.
