What schools are you accepting while you wait for UCI to decide?
@grad2021 committed to ucsd
@grad2021 UCSB
@grad2021 UCSD but UCI was my #1
@AllRejections Sorry to be nosy, but why was UCI your #1? I’m trying to stop being disappointed that my son chose UCI CS over UCSD CS.
@CopperlineX2 I’ve visited both campuses and I vastly prefer UCI’s campus and enviornment over UCSD. It might just be my personal preference.
@AllRejections My son agrees that UCI’s campus feels like a good home. Congrats on UCSD, and I hope u make it off UCI’s waitlist if that’s your preference.
@hotindianguy10, @iiarieaii, @AllRejections, Thanks for your sharing the schools you chose. UCI is my #1 choice too. Did any of you appealed? I also called them and found out that waitlist results will be announced after June 1, as that is the last day for transfer students to SIR. We have yet another month of waiting
@grad2021 I appealed, I submitted it on Monday. Does the portal update to show that we submitted the appeal and that it’s pending? Still hasn’t shown on mine. After June 1 for waitlist freshmen right?
@AllRejections, Yes For waitlist freshman after June 1. Not sure if the appeal will show up on the portal. I hear that there is email notification for appeal being submitted.
@grad2021 I got the email notification the moment after I turned it in. Does your appeal status show up on your portal?
Transfer student who got waitlisted for Social Ecology with a 3.4 GPA. What are my chances?
Waitlisted freshman really have to wait past june 1st? I know for UCSC its june 2.
When will they honestly tell us whether we got accepted for waitlist or not?
@grad2021 I appealed right away, but really? After June 1st? That means I will have to pay a cancellation fee for UCSB housing =__=.
@AllRejections After I appealed, I got an email notification too, but nothing on the portal. @turkeypanini, yeah after June 1st for waitlisted frehman
@iiarieaii Yup, that late!
My daughter was waitlisted back for Fall 2016 (class of 2020). At the time, we appealed my daughter’s wait list decision and she was admitted on 4/22, before the May 1st SIR Deadline and she received guaranteed housing (which was VERY important to her). We were not sure if it was because of the appeal. But at that point we did not hear of people coming off the wait list that did not appeal. The appeal allowed us to stress her case in more detail (in the letter), and also include two excellent letters of recommendation which could not be included in the initial application process. We sent in the appeal before the appeal deadline which was ~2 weeks before the SIR deadline, and her portal status changed a few days later to “Appeal Received, Decision Pending”. I think one other advantage of sending in an appeal, is that your application is brought into the light again and re-reviewed (I was hoping they missed something in the initial review). Not sure what combination of the above managed to get her admitted off the waitlist before the SIR deadline. Maybe none of it did, who knows.
