**UCI Class of 2024 Discussion Thread**

@AttorneysRock so do the official financial aid reports come out for each school?

@Gumbymom Thank you. I saw those requirements earlier but wasnā€™t sure whether it would guarantee transfer into the major.

@bluepotterhead: Nothing is guaranteed even if you meet the requirements. If you have a concern, I would contact the department and ask how many students are successful.

I still have not received a decision yetā€¦ Anyone else in the same boat?

Me too.

@DaniM7

Government Financial Aid / Grants start rolling out April 3. (Fafsa/Cal & Pell grants).

Each individual school can award their own merit or need based awards whenever they choose.

Congratulations to class of 2024!

Son was admitted to UCI (biological sciences), UCR (microbiology), UCSB (Pre-biology), Cal Poly SLO (microbiology) wondering if anyone has any advice on best school for pre-med track. Also, is there anyone on this thread that can provide input on UCIā€™s college life? @Gumbymom

@nxd2311: I cannot give you any insight to UCI college life. Neither of my sonā€™s attended UCI other than visiting for a prospective student tour. There is no bad option out of all the schools listed.

As a possible Pre-med student, he will want to attend a school where he has the best chance for a High GPA, access to medically related ECā€™s and has good Pre-med advising along with keeping costs/debt to a minimum.

He also wants to have a backup plan in case Medical school does not happen and Biology is one of the most popular Pre-Med majors but bad job prospects if he does not get into Medical school. 60% of all Pre-Med students never make it to the application process. Couple that with being a Pre-Med student in California where the competition is fierce, make sure where ever he attends he will be happy since happy students are successful students.

Best of luck with his decison.

Reallyā€¦ Itā€™s March 31st already and I still have not heard backā€¦

Yes, he has a lot to consider. @Gumbymom thank you so much for your response and advice.

Has anyone heard anything about financial aid?

Congratulations to class of 2024!

@sjacquaye no we have yet to hear anything. My daughter did reach out to the financial aid office and they said she would here by the 1st week of April. Here we are on that week. I am hoping by tomorrow fingers crossed!

We got an email and update to the portal that the information would be out in the next 15 days :neutral:

Financial Aid package is out today.

It seems that some people have their packages and others donā€™t. I wonder why?

Son is admitted as Honors Collegium and is offered Honors Housing. Since we canā€™t tour the campus, which housing is the best option for freshmen mayoring in pyscholgy.

I was accepted into the School of Humanities. It is difficult to get an answer from the school because of COVID-19. But, how difficult is it to change majors? is it impossible? Iā€™m not sure if I want to change; however, I want to make sure the options are available. Iā€™m thinking of either Business Administration or Computer Science. Those are very difficult majors but does anyone know the transfer rates into those? Or what to do to increase those chances of getting into either? When I should get ready to transfer?

@lolpeach:
Changing into very impacted majors is not guaranteed. You could try emailing each specific department on the success rate for switching majors.

Below is what is required to change majors and again even if you meet the requirements, there is no guarantee spots will be available.
