@ChancetoIRSD my son has the same but 2nd is CS. Primary is business. Perhaps an issue with site.
@Gumbymom
Ok thank you
@ChancetoIRSD My primary major is mathematics and nothing else is provided. My alternate major is business economics. It says for more information regarding Business Economics, please visit the School of Social Sciences. I hope this is not a bad sign. My UC weighted gpa is 4.0 and my sat is 1380.
Got in 1/31, Regents Scholar ($), Deans ($), Honors Collegium. Very smart for UCI to head others off at the pass.
Major: Public Health/Bio
GPA: 3.93(u) 4.55(w)

SUB SAT: not sure
Academic rigor: All courses to AP (2 for math). 6 class core load + sports/Choir
EC: Varsity Tennis (Captain), Community Svc Prog Director, Work experience, Math tutor, Piano Level 9. Choir.
Awards: Science Competition 1st place, honor roll all 4 years, other various academic awards and strong rec letters
Essays: Good subject content and tie in. Genuine, To the point. No help.
Accepted: UW -H ($), SLO, CSULB-Nursing, UCD, UCSB, Chapman ($$$).
Wait listed: UCSD
Laughed at: Stanford
Waiting on : UCLA, UCB, USC
UCLA and USC reached out for supplemental essays and app for scholarships. Donāt put much stock in these. Frankly, UCLA/UCB are going to have to compete with UCI guaranteed research, internships, class registration priority and housing guarantee. Better to be big fish on campus than one of the guppiesā¦Kid has not stressed since 1/31. The merit money is taking tuition below Cal state levels. APs knock another 2-3 quarters. Weāre goodā¦all else is gravy!
7 years of grit, grind, and genuine hard work is paying off. And still had a social life , childhood and a smile.
Everyone here is going to go to college! in the end it does not matter where you end-up. As you can see strong stats donāt mean squat. Getting what you need out of your education is up to you. Thatās what separates the participants from the spectators. Spend wisely!
@erynpanda my daughterās says the same. Not sure this even means anything. Since some are reporting the same I am going to assume it doesnāt.
Is it actually possible that it could come out today?
Maybe actually, back in 2017 they released on a Thursday night but 2018-2019 they were both Fridays
still hoping they might surprise us and come out tonight, I feel like I canāt wait any longer!
Anyone get anything?
Not yet.
Assuming UCI would release at 5, I think decisions will come out tomorrow. :((
My kiddo just told me UCI sent them a note saying that announcements would be out by the end of March and to watch their inbox next week. They applied to UCI for comp sci and are instateā¦weāll see what happens.
Didnāt receive that but sounds like your kid is admitted
What!? So the decisions are not coming out tomorrow?
@whaaa2022 When did your kid receive the email?
uve got to be kidding - UCI or any school doesnāt send emails like that. Since the email probably isnt personal can we see the contents of it
Thereās actually a bunch of schools that release emails that decisions will be coming later in the week. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of South Carolina, William and Mary, and some schools will even send out an email with the date they are releasing them such as Tulane and Villanova. So yes , āany schoolā does do that and maybe UCI hasnāt in the past but if they did this year, they arenāt starting any trends with that @pofppl
I learned one thing, kids dream, and parents want it to be true. Each one their own.
I see the frustration here among students themselves who are front warriors, and I am not that. I am a father, am with parents who have same feelings, for us parents its not dreams, its pain just to see the stupid struggle these kids go through and their expectations. I have gone through this for last 3 years and I raised my hands and said, this is it. Every college big or small play why and why the system has to play with thousands of students is way beyond my knowledge.
Right from ECs, to SAT, to SAT subject test, to APs, to how many APs, to AP tests, to each school and its own teacher/lecturers own way of scoring, to writing essays, next what we will do interviews to 17/18 year old kids interviews. stupid competitions, mindless debates, useless clubs, fake leadership programsā¦
If it was true, meaning level playing field, I will give one arm for that. Itās money. FAFSA is a farce. Scholarship is definitely skewed. Reason, dont be surprised I am and Asian Indian and in Cupertino, heartbed of CS or CSE, but was in IT 15 years back. Not rich.
My son got in UT Austin for CS, and UC Irvine for CS. Still hanging there for UCB, UCLA. After loosing on UCSD (got second major maths+computers or some thing)
He has regents scholarship, deans scholarship, campus wide honor collegium. He is still thinking.
Its brutal, just to imagine how we fall prey to more and more and more.
Did this world didnt move when lets say lesser mortals like us worked. Did we ever feel we were lesser mortals. I always was happy, atleast I have a job eat, sleep, watch TV, a vacation here and there, a 165K miles carā¦ I had to compete.
competition should be within, not in a job, or school, or community, or friends and family.
Please, someone goes to ivy, some to A school, some go to B school or C school. There will be always a Devilās advocate. Be warned.
I know every student or parent is waiting for results and are desperate. Brains work too and heart work too. Success is only if you heartily use the brains.
I request all of u. Most results have come almost 80%. Start working with what is in hand, I am doing it with my son. Being disheartened, a true warrior will be ready for the next war again. Lets not fight within, but challenge ourselves within, when war comes, it doesnt matter which school or what grades, I will win should be the mind and heart sync.
Itās long, couldnt see the predicament of so many of you. I have too, but I made peace.
Does anyone know when the decision is released?
@kishorekp as a parent i feel your frustration. this is my 2nd application cycle and i know about the highs and lows of the process which could seem unfair and unpredictable. donāt despair, things tend to work out in the end. congrats on your kidās acceptances so far! UT austin auto admits in-state apps so gaining OOS admission is a real achievement. went to UT decades ago but couldnāt get my kid to apply there  he has similar options - UW p&g award for direct to engineering, UIUC james scholar for mechE, UCI regents + deans for CSE, and UCSD math + CS no money which by the way is not ālosingā as there are far more waitlists/rejections than acceptances. UCB and UCLA look for different qualities but it is possible to get into both schools as did my older kid.
If rumors true we will get our decisions in less then 3 hours!
