UCI commuter school?

I'm hearing that a lot, so it probably is, so maybe my question is more is it a problem that it's a commuter school? I know there's a lot to do around Irvine, though.

It’s not exactly a commuter school, but let’s say, in the dorms, there are weekends when everyone just happens to leave. Not everyone “everyone,” but it’s like, half the dorm, which tends to look like a lot. And yeah, it’s not every weekend, more like every third weekend or so, and yeah, even on those weekends only about half leave which isn’t bad at all.

Many people do commute and drive their cars to UCI. However, there is still plenty to do on campus (there’s always events, movies, special lectures). Also, UCI is close to lots of things, some within a short walking distance/bike ride. As to those activities that you’ll need a ride to get to, UCI has buses that can take you there and sometimes there are days when buses are going to a specific place nonstop and you can ride for free.
