UCI: reach (low GPA/SAT)

I have no idea why you put in your freshmen GPA into your current GPA, but recalculate it without your freshmen.
Your GPA and SAT are extremely LOW and my suggestion is finish your year off strong, and study your ass off for those SAT's and take 2 SAT II's also.
Right now you are a REACH, but get those SAT's to 1900's maybe even 2000's and then it will be a slight reach and if you get lucky you can get in.

Recalculate your GPA using the UC formula. But, I'd say even with a real good SAT score UCI is gonna be a reach for you.

my buddy got rejected with 2020 SATI, 800 and 790 SAT II, 3.45 UCGPA.

just keep that in mind.

uci will be a tough reach, but not totally impossible.

did your friend have good ec? what else about him? i have the same stats lol.

based on this:
<a href="http://www.arcadiachineseparents.org/plots/2007/UCI.png%5B/url%5D">http://www.arcadiachineseparents.org/plots/2007/UCI.png</a>
and I think your unweighed GPA for just Sophomore and Junior is about 3.04
...uhhh
I say you have it REALLY rough...according to this...where you stand now will probably get you rejected.
if you had a GPA of 3.4 and had at least an SAT score of 1800 you would have a GREAT chance of getting in. so in this case...i would STUDY STUDY STUDY and take SAT 2, as you have it here...you might not make it.
if you had a gpa of 3.6 and a score of 1800 you would pretty much be in...
even if you get above a 2000, you still don't have a great chance at getting admitted.
as a result...I would shoot for 2200 or higher...or if you can 2400... if you get a 2400..or even a 2350 or somewhere around there I think you're in.

the good news is UC Riverside will take you...heh...
<a href="http://www.arcadiachineseparents.org/plots/2007/UCR.png%5B/url%5D">http://www.arcadiachineseparents.org/plots/2007/UCR.png</a></p>

My friend got accepted with a 2.7 GPA and pretty killed SATII but mid 1900 SAT and pretty much no extra curriculars into a Bio major. But seeing as how your SATs aren't that top notch who knows.

So, I'm thinking UCI is really random.

Your UC GPA is 3.05 (Irvine's average is about 3.89), and your 1690 is low for UC Irvine (average around 1850).

You should consider UC Riverside--or go to UC Merced and if you do well there and still want to go to UC Irvine, then transfer after one or two years.

Best of luck.

here's a link for the UC Admission stats University of California - Admissions

I think everyone is being a little tough on you. I got in with a 3.87 and 1790 SATs with above average ECs. I think your best bet is to get a high SAT. Getting a 2000 would greatly improve your chances. As of now, you should be happy with UCR and UCSC.
