UCI or UCSB

<p>hello. i am planning on studying middle eastern studies in college and doing pre-med. i was accepted to both uc santa barbara and uc irvine. i am very confused as to where i want to go. i'm leaning towards ucsb because they have middle eastern studies as a major while uc irvine has global cultures instead.
i want to go to a school where they don't have just studying; they have parties and things too (obviously not the only reason i want to go to college, but i just don't want it to be boring). and i don't want it to be EXTREMELY competitive as i've heard uci is. i'm also not sure if i want to be with a bunch of asians at uci (im asian myself). </p>

<p>anyway, can you give me reasons why one school would be better than the other? please help me decideeee!!! thank you! :)</p>

<p>I’d go to UCSB in a heartbeat. Just seems like a better overall college experience to me.</p>

<p>It definitely sounds like UCSB is the better match for you. They offer your major, much better social scene/parties, and less competitive. Go to UCSB. :)</p>
