I'm interested in becoming a bio major and I need research opportunities badly... i have ok grades and am involved in school etc. etc.
do you think some profs or grad students would be willing to take on a high school lab assistant? if so, how's the best way to get in touch with profs/grad students?

It's very unlikely to have a high school student in a lab. However, if you can interest some of the professors on campus, they might take you in for assistance work. You won't exactly do any research though. Read the websites of various professors and e-mail them. You really don't need to be doing this. High school students don't need research to get accepted. In fact, unless you actually do something significant, an assistant job won't really give you an edge to admissions; it will just look like a job or volunteer work.

thanks for the advice :)
