UCI Transfer 2014 decisions

@bjt223‌ me too. I just want to be around similar people aready…no one at my college is doing my major most likely…this will be exicitng. Honestly though, I think when students figure out where they are accepted really determines where they will go. Ucsd didnt accept me yet or give me regents,a dn uci alrady has. I feel secure, you know? I think schools that release decisions earlier really are attracting more and more great students every year.

@conheo I did

Are they releasing ALL decisions on the 18th? OR is that only for Davis?

@WhiteTiger84 Apparently all decisions. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Actually, almost everyone say that all decisions will be out on the 18th. Does anyone have a source to trace upon? Nothing offensive here, just want to have a better picture.

@lkm291‌ does this include Berkeley? I thought they were slated for the 25th.

@lindyk8 Berkeley generally always has a later date than all the UC’s but luckily they release them all on one day.

I read somewhere on this forum that UCB already finished evaluating transfer student’s applications. IS this true???

Let me ask you guys, they spend so much time on freshmen, it kind of seems like they’re forced to race through the transfers - which could be a good or bad thing. I think maybe it’s a good thing. I almost would imagine they’ve f**king had it by the time they get to us.

lkm291, the source for the 18th release date has been posted multiple times in this topic and this forum.

@smltk1505h Thanks. But irvine admission said they will continue to send out decisions until the 30th, I remember seeing it somewhere. Well, we’ll just have to see.
@lindyk8‌ Berkeley is 25th. My question is for irvine alone.

@lkm291‌

No they didn’t. You might be thinking of UCSD.

If I was a “psychic” and someone came to me asking if they got accepted into a UC I would just say “No”. If they are over 5 years old and believe in psychics there’s something wrong, second if I say “no” and they up getting in, they’ll be so happy they’re not going to come back in to complain. Where as if I told them yes and they make all their plans and get rejected, I could see them being a lot more upset.

just called uci said they are a little behind on their applications and would be done by April 30, but ms suns blog says april 18 so I’m kind of confused as in to when we will receive our decisions

I’m thinking it means they will start rolling out on the 18th all the way through the 30th. I hope its closer to the 18th, I would really like to start planning my summer schedule.

The 18th release date was published in a March 2014 edition for a bulletin. This means they probably gave a few weeks or so before the bulletin actually got published. So maybe sometime in February?

You just called UCI and they gave you updated information regarding decision release dates. We have a date that’s months old and presumably given way before they even started evaluating transfer applications and a date given in a time period when they’re completely done with freshman apps and going through transfer apps as we speak, straight from the horse’s mouth. Which do you think is going to be more accurate?

At this point in time, I’m thinking the longer they wait the more it hurts them. If you’re dead set on UCI, you might wait it out. If you’re torn between UCI and another UC (and already got into the other), you might just throw in the towel to get a head start on housing.

How does it hurt them the longer they wait? I’ve seen people say this a few times now and I’m not really following. Is it because of housing?

@smltk1505h‌ that’s what I’m thinking. To come out on April 30, rather than April 18 is two weeks later in the housing scramble. Plus, let’s just say they really want someone but that person hasn’t heard. The person could just bail. There’s only so much a human body can take.

The good news potentially for UCI is they got a huge influx of applicants which led to the date change.

The housing issue shouldn’t matter too much if the absolute majority of applicants haven’t heard, like in the case for UCI and UCSD. Since transfer housing is usually separate from freshman housing, there would be no one besides possibly continuing students to take up the transfer housing.

I think the reason why the higher-tier UCs (UCB and UCLA) release decisions all in one day is to prevent people admitted earlier from taking all the housing spots, as the presumably the majority of applicants who are admitted to either one of those schools will SIR into one of them, seeing as how so many students are reaching for those 2 schools. Perhaps the lower-ranked UCs are trying to get the bulk of their decisions out around the time period UCLA and UCB release their decisions in an attempt to get some of the admitted applicants to those schools? It’s one thing when you’ve got your decision and financial aid award to the lower-ranked UCs like a month before UCLA and UCB releases theirs, the admitted student has time to evaluate the campus and everything associated with it. it’s kind of another if they all come out at the same time with UCB and UCLA. kind of like overwhelming the student with all these admissions.

I don’t know, it’s just a guess, maybe I’m talking out of my ass. Regardless, we have until June 1st to SIR, giving us roughly a month to decide where we want to go. I think after April 30th, the earlier you SIR to your school, the better your housing chances are.
