UCI Transfer 2014 decisions

Did you SIR to Irvine @TT4UCOSBEL‌?

@lindyk8 I just SIRd to UCLA earlier today ^ ^ I think they will offer the official packet to all admitted students regardless of accepting the admission or not~

Thanks @TT4UCOSBEL‌. My daughter SIR’d to UCLA as well. We have all the packets except Irvine, and we just would like to get it so she can lord it over her kids in the future. :smiley:

@lindyk8‌, I’m just curious; does you daughter have any idea that you’ve been active on these college confidential threads?

@bhav007 yeah, she does. She thinks it’s lame. She never comes on, but I’ve gotten a lot of good information. She just rolls her eyes. But I can tell you think I shouldn’t so I will refrain.

@lindyk8‌, Oh i see. Yah, there is a lot of info on here. You can tell that I think you shouldn’t what?

@bhav007 Oh, well II couldn’t tell exactly. I’m very type A and was a basketcase during the waiting period. She is so zen. Also, to be honest, about the last month or so I’ve been considering an advisor position to help with transfers. My daughter’s community college just let her down a lot in terms of various issues. Same with some of her friends who got bad advice. I’m a writer by trade and am wondering if I should help transfers. So I come up here to see what’s going on to help make up my mind. And lastly, after that frantic month of waiting I really wanted to know if all you guys got in, the ones I interacted with. I was not invested in Berkeley, but went in after the announcements came out to congratulate some of the kids I had talked with there. I remember talking to you earlier. somewhere. I did tell my daughter I’m sure some are like WTH is that mom doing up here. But that’s just me, I guess.

@lindyk8‌, lol I guess I felt like that (WTH is that mom doing up here), especially when you often said “My daughter…” this and that. It sounded like you were bragging about your daughter when you really weren’t haha. But, it’s not a big deal.

Oh geez, I didn’t want it to sound like that. I hope no one else thought that. Anyway, it’s basically over now.

Hows it looking for waitlisters?

@lindyk8 At least you do not go: “My D this, my S that…” You’re plenty cool in my book for that.

@lindyk8 I’m glad you can do stuff like this for your daughter. My parents didn’t get the chance to go to college, so I basically figured it all out on my own. I pretty much screwed myself my freshman year and dropped out to work then went back to CC when I was ready to focus then graduated and now I’m transferring to UCR, fingers crossed for UCI, but having parents understand what was going on would have helped me a lot. Now my parents are more interested for the sake of my little sister but having someone know what was going on would have been great. Kudos to you, plus if you could help transfers that would be awesome! I feel like we always get the short end of the stick since were not freshman.

Thx @moniiique‌. I know this sounds like a cliche, but It’s heartfelt. I’m so happy for all of you that got in. I feel a little like a proud mom when I see so many names over the last month or so fretting and freaking out, and then you made it! My daughter (I know I’m saying her name and she’s ok with it) didn’t do her best in high school. But she pulled herself up and I am so proud. There are so many up here who have told me the exact same story. Others let me read their appeal letters for feedback and the overcoming of so many setbacks (some who only got support from outsiders, or no support at all), how can you not all deserve to be at a UC?

I actually think the UCs like admitting transfers because it’s not only diversity, but in many cases it’s showing a spirit to keep going. Having a UC degree follow you through life will bring you great joy. Everyone has heard of, and respects, the UCs. You will never have to feel wanting (which I have seen occur, trust me), even if you’re sitting with a Stanford grad. You made the cut. Congratulations! I hope you make it to Irvine, but either way, you’re in. Riverside is a great school!

@oongaboonga‌ , ha, I have done it on occasion when it’s related to something someone said (is this or that going to happen? – I don’t think so. It didn’t happen to my daughter, etc. ). I try to add to the convo, for better or worse. 8-|

UCI finally sends their admissions packet :slight_smile:

It only took 33 days, but I FINALLY got my package! Maybe if they’d sent it sooner, I wouldn’t have SIR’d UCLA :wink:

@2016Candles‌ @xxcapital

I got it too. Lol took them long enough :stuck_out_tongue:

Do you guys mean “the transfer summer start program” booklet?! I just got that one!

@bolandgoo‌

The packet I got included the official acceptance letter. I didn’t get anything about a summer start program.

You can hardly call it a “packet.” Just an official letter from the UCI admissions office, an official letter from your college of major, and a flag-shaped paper saying congratulations. :P
