Do you have photographic evidence?

I'd still prefer Irvine though. Some of the reason why UCSB is ranked where it is now is because it's heavily research-based (as the brochure mentions), which says volumes about it's overall undergraduate education (AKA bad). Irvine is a good choice to make a lot of career decisions that involve education after undergraduate studies.

Irvine is a good place to jump into one of the selective medical schools in the UC system, because your GPA won't be killed by cut throat competition, but the school is ranked in a nice spot for your GPA to mean something to schools.

Also, these UCD vs. every other school threads are getting a little old. It's true that voiceofreason was a tad bit overzealous in promoting UCD, but 5 or 6 retaliatory THREADS is a bit excessive. UCD is a good school in its own right. It is, I believe, the only UC that offers a pre-vet program, and it's veterinary school is ranked 2nd in the country. You guys have posted enough about statistics, in the end, these schools are ranked so closely together that it really is just a matter of personal preferences as to which school a potential student would like to go to.

UCI and UCSB are both good. Isla Vista is awesome, but after visiting a few times, it got old. Hmmm, tough choice. Career-wise, UCI might make more sense since the surrounding Irvine/Newport/Costa Mesa area have a ton of opportunities in just about every field.

If you go to UCI, you can look into living in Newport Beach which is pretty close.
