ahh, I'm totally struggling with the same dilemma... This is my main issue with UCI--it has a reputation of being a commuter school, and apparently there isn't a great party scene. However, I'm an English major (tranfer) and UCI has a better English department. Also, they really accomodate transfers.
UCSB is awesome in everyway, but they don't really provide good opportunites for transfer students. If i were a freshman, it'd be UCSB hands down! Perfect location, awesome vibe from everyone there, and acamdemically very strong (especially in physics)

Last year UC Davis accepted way too many kids. That's why their acceptance rate was so high (I think it was like 70% last year). This year it should be fairly close to UCI and UCSB in terms of acceptance rates. If I remember correctly the difference between SAT Scores for the three schools is fairly small.

I don't think you can say girls at SB > girls at Irvine. It depends on your preferences. If you're into white girls, then yes SB. If you were into cute asians, then Irvine by far.

BTW, I love the better than UCD thing to get someone upset. That brought me a good laugh. Thank you.

so at my school, a lot of uber kids got into UCSB through the whole special scholars invite whatever. like, top 2% students. and got accepted and stuff. then, kids who were top 10% got rejected. then, kids who were barely to 40% (this one girl passed the california high school exit exam her senior year) got in by the truck loads. so basically in our eyes UCSB was smoking some damn good weed, which is totally a pro if your into that kind of stuff.

UCI is a bit less warped, but the same 10% guy got in there a few weeks ago but got rejected from UCSB and still hasnt heard from cal poly. maybe this just shows that colleges in general suck at choosing people, but UCSB definitely chose some weird kids from my school.

I think it's like 50% Asian and 25% white. The whole Asian thing is kinda turning me off from UCI. It's not that I don't like them, it's just 50% is a lot of asians. I'll probly end up choosing UCI over Cal Poly SLO though.

quoted for truth!"

yet soemhow, UCI and UCSB have higher SATs than UCD

this is anecdotal evidence, but eveyrone i know that applied got into UCD. my hs is a "top" school however. while not everyone got into UCI and UCSB

True story, its on youtube in the discussion section of the video of those two emo kids lipsyncing the original Pokemon intro. Its there, trust me; you'll find it eventually
