I’m a high school senior and I’ve applied to four UCs and four CSUs, though if I am accepted to any of the UCs, I’d prefer to go to one of them (I don’t have anything against the CSU system, just a personal preference). I’ve only had the chance to visit two of the four campuses (UCR and UCI) and I liked them both but because I am not actually a student at either of these schools, I don’t know what to truly think of them. I applied as an English major and I’d like to know the pros and cons of each of the schools, what living on campus is like, and what the classes are like (preferably English ones). UCR is the closest to home and UCSD and UCSB are the farthest (about 2 hours away). Hopefully some more insightful information will help me make my decision (IF they accept me). Thank you!
If you have time, I suggest you plan a trip in the next few months to other two campuses or wait until you are accepted and attend their open houses that are usually in March/ April after acceptances are posted. 2 hours away is not that far and can easily be done during spring break. Much better to get the feel of the campuses in a personal level.
