I’m getting anxious

I looked at the admit number on the uc website and it looks like they accepted more than the usual this year but I don’t know how many SIRed.

This is a wide assumption but I was looking at the number of people on the UCI facebook page for class of 2017. There are 1,979 people, meaning maybe at most 2,000 more people also accepted UCI as their choice school. I read that UCI enrolls around 5,000 freshman ( maybe less) so we have a good chance still I haven’t heard anything today. Hopefully we find out soon!

@victormao: Thanks!! I hope they come out soon too. :)

@dearmichelle: Well, not everyone uses FaceBook or joins the UCI 2017 group even if they get the invitation, so we have to factor that in as well. Some people, and I’m guessing the ones who aren’t that interested in UCI, didn’t join the group… Well, last year, UCI underenrolled, so I guess this year they would make up for it by overenrolling a bit. Ah, but this is all speculation. Who knows whether or not UCI decides to use their waitlist this year?! I just hope it comes out this week.

This is just speculation, but I think that UCI is in a different situation this year. Since they under admitted last year and pulled everyone off the waitlist, I think they admitted a few more this year so there was more people who would enroll. Unlike last year, I don’t think that they have enough open spots to let everyone in off the waitlist, but they do in fact have some spaces to fill. I think that they are currently reviewing all the applications of the people who opted in on the waitlist and are currently deciding who they want. I think that if they heavily unserenrolled or over enrolled we would’ve found out already.

I agree with Qnxrtos, it seems logical… even though it may be a downer…

But just because they enrolled more people doesn’t mean they’ll be going to UCI. The big reason why UCI was under-enrolled last year was because California kids were just not going to UCI since they had better UC’s to go to.

But either way, good luck all, and I hope we find out soon. :)

Actually only 2 out of the 9 kids that I know that go to my school are going to UCI. The others are going to fullerton, USC, and Berkley, UCSD, etc…

I know …so many cal residents went to better ucs … so,i assume the facebook theory should work !! and we will have spots !

I, too, have kids at my school who were mainly accepted to UCI even with CHP’s, but they mainly speak about going to UCLA, Stanford, UCSD, NYU. Hopefully those free spots they left behind (which seems like a lot at my school) will give us all chances.

And not everyone shows their school on Facebook as UCI, so I wouldn’t count on that yet. Right now all we can do is hope. A lot.

but as you can see from the previous years… like class 2016 and 2015… they have around 5000 members … so, i think its kinda accountable

Yes, but you also need to account when they did that. Many didn’t put UCI as their school once they committed, but rather when they were there in person. Many of my friends like to keep the high school as their school since they are still in high school, you know?

But yes, I totally understand what you mean, and once I get accepted (if I do), I’m going to set UCI as my school, too :)

Edit: Apparently UCI has set appeals to “pending”, meaning that those on the waitlist might be seeing the end of the tunnel soon!

Where can I see the “pending” sign? Nothing has appeared on my message center …

You might want to check the Appeals thread here, I’m waitlisted, so I wouldn’t know. But good luck :)

Thanks I hope everyone gets off the waitlist when I open my eyes tomorrow, ehh

yes ! mann we r tough !! 6 months waiting !! make it count !

I was waitlisted and appealed. It says
"Admission Decision
Waitlist for UC Irvine Fall 2013 Freshman Class
Appeal Status
Your appeal is pending/under consideration; you will be notified via e-mail when to check for your appeal decision "

Haven’t heard back, I’m getting nervous. Friends of mine on other UC waitlists have heard back (ie. UC Davis)

Has anyone else heard anything?
& is this All or Nothing deal true?

idk… I havent heard anything either…I personally think the all or nothing is a real deal ~

I believe it is real as well, according to other years. I think UCI is just being a tease at the moment. I think we should hear back soon and end my month-long misery…

Mine hasn’t changed to “pending” yet … uh oh… what could this mean?
