UCI waitlist?!

So I have taken the liberty to make a thread on waitlisted people like last year. Who is with me? Who has been put on the waitlist and is waiting to be admitted?

I got waitlisted with a 3.9 WGPA and 1940 SAT and tons of ECs  SIGH, and I was reading up and 2 years ago, all the waitlisters on UCI got in. Last year, I don’t think very many did… so the future doesn’t look too bright for us :(

And I’m not sure if it’s my school, but virtually everyone who got into UCI also got into UCSD and UCLA as well so they probably won’t choose UCI which would open up a lot of spots for us waitlisters? A lot of people who deserved to get in from my school unfortunately got rejected :/

Really? Ahh scary! Did they say how many people were waitlisted last year? I called the admissions office and said they waitlisted 1500 people…

I have no idea. And wow… that’s a lot O_O But I think that since this year, it seems like so few people were admitted, more people from the waitlist would be able to go in? And a lot of people I know who got into UCI won’t be going because they were admitted into better places. So hopefully there is space for us :)

Yes, same here I know a lot of people who are not going to attend UCI. So hopefully we get in, in place of them!

Hopefully! I’m sure there are other people waitlisted. Why is nobody else in this thread? And I have no idea how the process goes. All UCs require us to let them know if we will attend by May 1, but then we don’t hear back from UCI until May 15… So how does that work o__o

And also, how will we register for housing and classes? Because by then, I’m sure all the housing and classes will be taken before we find out I think. I’m unsure when people decide on that stuff :/

I heard some of the people who got accepted from the waitlist knew one week before the deadline and others several days after May 1st. I believe they extend your deadline

I was waitlisted too and I was really surprised because I got into UCSD

Wow, UCI must be really random!

Oh really? And wow o_o Irvine seems to be very selective this year… Maybe that’s good for us waitlisted people though  Maybe they purposely admitted fewer in order to boost the admittance GPA? And waitlisted a lot that may have a chance of getting in? I hope :)

Waitlisted with a 3.9 weighted GPA and 1940, same situation as jeskuh :frowning: And I don’t think they admitted fewer, seems like they admitted too much to have room for us… haha, i know of plenty of people with 3.4-3.6 GPA’s with average SAT scores who got in.

I don’t get why they are admitting people with lower stats. There are so many highly qualified applicants.

Really? I’ve been reading up on a lot of forums and it seems like a lot of people have been getting rejected/waitlisted. Especially because a lot of them will probably be going to better schools anyway :/… I desperately want to get into Irvine :(

Yea I have a 4.12 W GPA and 1970 on my Sat’s, but I applied as undeclared. Does that make a difference?

You should SIR at another school while waiting to get off the waitlist. If its a UC, you SIR, and you decide to attend another school, i.e. UCI, then you lose your $100 deposit.

You guys got this.

Something for you waitlisters to consider…

Transfers such as myself don’t get a decision until April. Perhaps based on how many transfers are accepted or rejected, UCI will admit people on the waitlist.

I wish I could SIR another campus, but alas I have been rejected to the other three I applied to. >____> My only hope at the moment is UCI.

So this year, there are about 1,500 applicants on the UCI waitlist?
