If the SIR rate is 22% as usual year , they will have 5500 students already… So…

^ wait the number already came out?

The admission number is 25000 …

Hoping the sIr rate will be lower

How many people SIR’ed this year?

Don’t know yet

…And I was hoping today would’ve been the day…

I hope they send out SOMETHING tomorrow.

YUP! I called uci office just now … and they kept insisting on that they gonna release it BY 15!

They admitted 5,000 more people than last year. I called UCI today to try to get a hint so I lied and said that my housing is due tomorrow. I asked the lady whether or not I should file my housing for the college that I SIR’d to and the lady said that I should “definitely do everything in my power” to complete my housing for the other college. I don’t mean to sound negative, but the applicants who were waitlisted last year found out on the second day of May. I asked the lady how many people SIR’d to UCI this year and she told me that UCI does not have that number yet. I don’t understand how UCI would not have that number if they were notified by May 1st. It seems like they’re stalling to me. But then again, I did hear that UCI is expanding so maybe there is some hope for us.

^Are you sure? I actually found the exact acceptance numbers of both last and this year, and UCI only admitted 1000 more people than they did last year.

Total applicants 2013
60,619
Admitted

24,968

Total applicants 2012
56,508
Admitted

23,956

anyways UCI still doesn’t want to disclose how many people sir’ed there… ehh

Thanks for the info, @AirUpThere95.

I liked your method of choice in dealing with this, but in the end, they aren’t telling us much. And @dyehard is correct, just 1,000 more people. It’s just shows that UCI is just as competitive as the other UC’s in terms of admittance.

But to me, 1,000 extra admitted students won’t be doing much to the waitlisters, or so I hope.

I’m really sick of waiting… Let’s be optimistic that is the only way we could do at this point in time :)

@airupthere95 obviously they are going to tell you to do your housing for your school , they don’t want to be the reason you lost your chance to attend college. They can’t give you a hint because of legal matters , If she gives you a hint that perhaps they have accepted all on the waiting list and you don’t do your housing and then it turns out they didn’t accept all on the waiting list , it would be a legal issue for them.

@dyehard I think that the admitted number from 2012 includes the people who were admitted off of the waitlist and off of appeals (they admitted 60% of the applicants who appealed). The number for 2013 is just the amount of people who got in right away.

@Kairi13 good point, but the way she phrased did not sound good. And, a lot of people have gotten hints in the past. They have been told to not be too hopeful about getting in… Just look at past threads if you don’t believe me. But yeah, I understand what you’re saying. You’re right

@AirUpThere95 Oops, I haven’t thought about that…

@AirUpThere95 oh I see .no,I do believe you I skimmed the previous comments . I have many friends that attend UCI , a few that were waitlisted and they all got in! It’s honestly very arbitrary . I don’t know many students from my area that are attending UCI , almost all are attending UC Berkeley , so I feel like the people on the waitlist have a pretty good chance due to the fact most of the students that applied to UCi ,only applied with the intention of a fallback school .

Oh nothing new that I’m saying but mannnn I was hoping to see that UCI email in my inbox today. Nope Come on I’m so ready to here the good news

same here bro!! well, we can only pray that tomrw that IT will come!!

Hey y’all. I’ve been stalking this thread for a while. I’m on the waitlist too. I hate to say it but there is no way that irvine is accepting people off the waitlist. This time last year they even told the people who appealed that they were accepted. Irvine accepted too many people this year. It sucks but it is what it is. I’m only annoyed that irvine can’t bother to tell us that they are not going to use the waitlist yet. There is no point in making us wait. Also they need to get rid of that all or nothing policy. They should be fair and actually review the waitlist people’s applications again like how other schools do. So don’t get your hopes up just to have your hearts broken. Hopefully you can learn to love the school you end up at
