UCLA AAP Transfer Scholars' Day

Anyone else attending?!

Yes. Can you explain what this is, though? Is it a tour?

Right on!

I’m not exactly sure, though per the letter I received “part of the day’s activities will include an Information fair; you will receive information about financial aid, scholarships, student housing, health services and more. Over 30 UCLA departments participate. You will be able to talk to students, faculty, staff, and alumni about life at UCLA.”

Hey Justin,

I’m going. I need to find the map on how to get there. It wasn’t “enclosed” as they said it was in the email.

Hi Justin,

I wish I was going! I was definitely planning on it but my car broke down. Bummer :frowning: So does this mean you’ve picked UCLA??? Have fun! :)

QVO, it’s being held in the Ackerman Union Ballroom and is right near parking complex 4, diagonal to the Wooden Center. When you get to UCLA you can stop at one of the information/parking booths and the people working there can tell you where to park and even give you a map.

Indie, sorry to hear about your car trouble. I recently sold mine, so I’m without one at the moment…That being said, I will only be able to make the Veterans portion of the event tomorrow from 1-2. Yes, after a lot of back and forth I finally chose UCLA! I’m excited and can’t wait to get started. I hope it’s not too late to register for summer classes…

There were a lot of beautiful ladies at the AAP event today. Shout out! Yeahhh Budddddy!
.

I couldn’t make it. Did they cover anything important that we don’t already know?

To be honest, i didn’t learn much but that was probably because I wasn’t able to attend the Question-Answer session. I don’t know what was covered during that portion of the day, but I did learn some new stuff at the information fair. I wouldn’t really consider it most of it important, though. The biggest thing for me was learning about the Transfer Summer Program (TSP). I didn’t know about it before and now I’m really considering signing up. For those of you who haven’t heard about it, here’s the info:

In TSP, you’ll enroll in three university courses and receive 11-12 units of credit toward your UCLA degree requirements. You will take an advanced Composition course, a research course, and an upper division seminar. Here are the upper division seminar choices:

Afro-American Studies 188: Race and Public Policy
Chicano & Chicana Studies 148: Coalition & Conflict: Urban Poverty, Migration, & Race in the U.S.
Psychology 175: Community Psychology
Anthropology 157: Immigration
English 178B: interracial Encounters in Contemporary American Literature
Political Science
Life Science Program for Transfers

The estimated cost is $5,549, and depending on your EFC plus student contribution, you may be eligible to receive grant money from the Financial Aid Office and AAP to cover some or all of the cost of FSP. Sign-ups begin May 16!

For more information concerning TSP and how to enroll, please visit www.aap.ucla.edu/summerprograms/

I attended. The beginning speeches were very interesting but unfortunately irrelevant to me. I enjoyed the free breakfast and lunch!
I didn’t go to the Q&A because they lumped math in with physical science…no thanks.
