up until his UCLA acceptance, my son felt a similar way- this has been a brutal year. I am so grateful for the UCLA acceptance right now for the boost he needed in his confidence and self-esteem. I know they shouldn’t wrap their feelings towards this process and acceptances arent necessary to validate self worth but in this high pressured time for kids it’s hard not to - easier said than done. I feel for those kids right now as we have been there
Top 10 most applied Universities for 2021:
- UCLA
- UC San Diego
- UC Irvine
- UC Santa Barbara
- UC Berkeley
- NYU
- UC Davis
- Penn State- University Park
- Cal State Long Beach
- University of Michigan- Ann Arbor
Wow, I’m a little surprised that UCB is not a little higher up on the list. Any thoughts as to why?
She is impressive. Rank 9 of about 500.
I cannot say why UCB”s application numbers are not higher, but historically they have been always way behind UCLA especially for Freshman. From my own experience with my kids, relatives and friends that I helped with their UC applications, very few applied to UCB (did not like the campus or vibe) while the majority applied to UCLA (high marks for campus and vibe).

After getting into UCLA, did anyone receive any emails?
I don’t think my kid got one yet
They haven’t sent out anything yet which I am assuming is because of the weekend. Hopefully tomorrow…
Alright cool thanks!
