do people reading the alumni essays have access to uc app essays? basically, can i turn in a variation of my uc app essay?
its due in 6 hours, so a quick reply would be appreciated

I don’t think anyone here knows. EXPANDING on and launching from your essay is different from repeating it. Summarizing in case they don’t have it, and going further might be a way to go. I probably wouldn’t just tweak it and turn it in if it were me, unless you absolutely can’t get it done otherwise.

on their website, it says that alumni volunteers read through the applications and hold the interviews. is it likely (or even legal) for them to get access to the UCLA application that we turned in?

I’m guessing that they don’t see the original UC application. Otherwise, why would they have the extensive fill-ins for all of the activities, volunteer work, awards, etc. on the alumni application? Those would be redundant with the UC app.

Thanks guys!
I ended up tweaking one of my UC essays and turning that in for one of the prompts. What yoamogatos said makes complete logical sense, and in the long run, the alumni scholarship isn’t that important anyway (at least in terms of money).
