I'm applying to the UCLA Alumni Scholarship for freshman (merit based). The deadline's coming up and I haven't started my essays. Does the alumni organization see your essays that you write for the normal UC app, in which case I should write completely new essays, or can I use parts of my regular essays?
Separate question: I applied for regents scholarship. Can I/is it worth it to apply to the Alumni scholarship also (my financial situation does not qualify me for the full tuition regents scholarship)?

^ It's a definite possibility about the access, so I would write new essays. Even if they don't have access, it's good practice for any APs, in-class essays, etc.

Do both. If you don't get one, you might get the other.

i know this is late, but in case you did reuse the essays, the alumni scholarship are reviewed by completely different people from admissions. so no worries!

I would guess not, which is why they ask for so much information they could get from the regular application.
