Hi, I'm appealing to UCLA for Fall 2012. I heard that in previous years, letters of recommendation were accepted. Is that true for this year? I think this year LA opted to only have the essay, right? I just need clarification so I know whether or not to ask my teachers for rec letters. Thanks!

Also, is it a long shot considering that there is a waitlist this year? I was not waitlisted, I was rejected. UCLA is my dream school, and my brother graduated from there and my sister is currently a student there. Can I work this into my appeal as well?

UCLA has not done letters of recommendation in the past. I don’t know about sibling legacy.

UCLA do not take letters of recommendation for appeals. So basically you have to prove yourself worthy for them to reverse their decisions

yes I plan to appeal to but I don’t know if it will be so hard to get accepted because there are so many applicants this year and UCLA also has the waitlist system.

I appealed too! Still waiting on my decision Has anyone heard back yet?

I would recommend against appealing. If you were not easily accepted, chances are you will be miserable here. Going here has ruined my chances for grad school, which I could have easily attained elsewhere. But, if you are not planning on going to grad school, its a great place to graduate from.
