UCLA--Chances?

I am not a California resident. I have been to two different CC's, one in Michigan (where i'm from) and one in Las Vegas. My first semester was bad due to my fathers declining health:B's and C's. However I have recieved few awards-EC's and did very well my second and third semesters:all A's and B's. Courses taken:
Writing Fiction-A
Psycology-B
English-C/A
Japanese-A
Journalism-B
Art courses all A's

I would like to get into the film program at UCLA, can anyone tell me my chances or what I should do to better my chances? I understand you dont get in until your third year which is good for me to increase my GPA. Do I need to be in a California College to transfer? Also from what I understand the film program also bases a lot on talent as well as recomendations. I have one multi- published and award winning writer who would be one. And it would seem I am quite a talented writer, are these things as important as it would seem? Should I nix my first semester and just keep going without using that? Any info will help, thanks.

UCLA: Reach. (out of staters have a disadvantage)

UCLA: Reach (out of state, Film)

Definite Reach

Definite, definite reach, but nothing's impossible. Which other film programs are you looking at?

Others I am looking at are Michigan, Grand Valley State, LMU, and a few others I am looking at. I got into UNLV, but I dont know if I want to live in Las Vegas anymore (though it is a great town)

What is it exactley that makes it such a reach? If I attended a CC in California would it better my chances? Is it that my grades are not good enough or not enough of the right courses? Honesty is of course what I am looking for, though I would appreciate it if you would not be rude. The above posts are just what I was looking for. Anyway thanks guys appreciate it and more info would be great.
