UCLA Class of 2018 Official Decisions/Discussion

I’m guessing that it’ll be around 2:30pm Pacific standard time. Somewhere around there, at least!

The UC’s always seem to come out with their decisions a little earlier than stated (even UCSD, before the portal went completely bonkers, released some results by 12pm instead of 3pm).

@jackson61 @Liliana330 wait really? When my Davis decision came out (along with a bunch of my other classmates) it was around 2:40-3:00. Surprisingly a lot of qualified people got rejected from Davis…such a surprise…

Hopefully we’ll hear back earlier. UCD & UCSD released their decisions early.

@alwayswonderines I know someone here mentioned having a friend who got Regents at Berkeley but a rejection from UCD. So many people with higher stats than me got rejected from UCD. The admissions process is totally random.

@alwayswonderines Really? I didn’t check until about 4:57 PM, though, so I guess it could have been earlier… And yeah, I know a lot of qualified people who were rejected too :frowning: College decisions are weird like that…

well i wont be able to check my decisions until the late late evening on friday, its so crazy we hear our decisions in just a few days

(btw, @alwayswonderines, did you get in? If you did, and if it’s one of your higher choices, we might be classmates next year! )

My physics lab buddy got rejected from UCD :(

Deleted post

@agreatperhaps13 that sucks, i heard UCD rejected a lot of qualified applicants too ):

Thats really interesting what you say about UCD rejecting a lot of qualified applicants this year…Im inclined to think the same about UCSD. Both my best friend and I have solid stats as well as concentrated EC areas (she has slightly higher stats, I have stronger ECs but both of us have 3.75+ UW GPA and 2200+ SAT/ACT equivalent)- we both got accepted to Davis but waitlisted at San Diego.

So Davis is a possibility but honestly if I get into UCLA, I’m totes packing my bags and heading straight down to SoCal without a blink of an eye. UGH ive been pretty chill about college decisions up until now but honestly now that decisions are coming out I really really really want to get into UCLA asl;dfkjas;lkdfja;lskdjf!!! Love the culture/atmosphere there so much and if given a choice between UCLA and UCB I’d choose UCLA in a heartbeat. <3

LOL sorry about the long post but yeah
hope results are positive for us all come friday 3/21!!

UCLA is the only school I’ve been stressed. That and waiting to hear back about the Gates scholarship is killing me.

I got accepted to Davis, but waitlisted at San Diego. I have definitely heard of people getting rejected from UCSD, but accepted to UCLA and/or UC Berkeley. UCD is a strong possibility, but I would definitely go to UCLA in a heartbeat if I got accepted!

@daisy8080 LA > Cal any day :)

At least environment-wise lol

@agreatperhaps13 well thank goodness for that, I got accepted to Davis and waitlisted to UCSD (which is my 2nd top) as well. I thought with my stats (34 ACT, 4.13 GPA, good focused ECs) I had a good chances of getting in to UCSD, when almost all of my friends (except one) with lower stats around 1900-2000 SAT or 29 ACT, GPAs lower than 4.0, and maybe one EC they did just for college got accepted, I was a little confused and depressed. I mean I love them and I’m happy for all of them but let’s be honest here, sometimes human nature is to be a tad selfish.

I love UCSD and UCLA almost equally and I’ve been praying that my wait-listing at UCSD isn’t a sign of what’s to come with UCLA. Oh geeze, this is going to be a long week of waiting. I know I’ll be happy wherever I end up, but you know how dream schools are, you really want them.

If UCLA’s admission updates go haywire like UCSD’s I won’t have the chance to go to college because I’ll have a heart attack and die right there from the stress of waiting, I don’t think my poor heart can handle it again, it hasn’t even repaired from last week’s UCSD chaos yet. (I say last week, more like yesterday / the entire weekend I suppose, whoops)

On that wonderfully bright note, good luck to everyone! Regardless of the actual decisions, all of us have worked so hard for the past ~4 years in high school and we all deserve to get into the college of our dreams. No one ever says, “college sucks” since pretty much every college is awesome and we’ll be happy where ever we end up.

@jackson61 I got in to both UCSD and UCD (and weirdly UCI sent my acceptance early).

Wish you all luck! My stats definitely aren’t good enough for UCLA (3.92 UC GPA 1970 SAT) but I’m gonna keep my hopes up and pray I get in!! Top choice for sure. Accepted to UCSD, UCSB, and UCSC. Rejected at UCD. Hopefully we all get accepted :)

I heard there were over 100,000 applicants this year, a new record apparently
I wonder how thats gonna impact the admission rate this year o.o

My perspective of what’s a good standardized test score and whats not has completely shifted over the past two weeks. Both my brother (1790), and my sister (2090) got into Berkeley with decent extracurriculars but absolutely no hardships. So logically I thought my 2000 and 31 ACT would bode well for my chances at UCLA. But after reading about all these 2200’s that got denied to a much lesser school, UCSD, I’m no longer as confident as I once was. I’m not sure if that much has changed over the last 5 years or if my siblings were just lucky, but either way I’m nervous about my decision.

I did get into UCSD though, so that’s a start

@caseyjbauer - a lot has changed in 5 years. In 2008, 14% of all applicants to UCLA had an SAT composite of 2100 or higher, and they made up 39% of all admits. In 2013, 18% of all applicants were at 2100+, making up a whopping 48% of all admits. That’s quite a jump in just 5 years. Still, though, thousands of students were admitted to UCLA in 2013 with less than 2000 on the SAT. Good luck to you (and to my son  ).
