I had received a supplemental questionnaire in early February and submitted essay responses and my fall semester senior grades. I probably received it because I had mentioned a hardship that negatively affected my grades during sophomore year.
@davisgirl I didn’t say it was a bad thing to not receive it, I didn’t get one either, I said that not receiving one just meant that’s means that they already decided if you are accepted or rejected. I was just saying that meant they already made their decision a couple months ago
Just my two cents worth that UCLA is awesome! My daughter is a freshman there and literally couldn’t be happier. I remember last year feeling so anxious for admissions results. Good Luck to everyone here.
In terms of UCLA as an institution, in my humble opinion it is fantastic. Yes, some of the general ed classes are large, but they are broken into sections where students get lots of interaction and help from T.A.s. Also, my daughter has had good experiences connecting with professors. It is a beautiful school with amazing resources. However, she is a Regents Scholar so she receives priority enrollment and I acknowledge that may make a big difference. Still, her friends all seem quite happy too! (albeit stressed over midterms at the moment!)
I’m OOS and on the east coast (thus not easy for me to visit more than the time i already have or get additional info on the school (like having reps come to my school etc)). Does anyone in here know any general stats on nursing accpetance other than they accpet ab 50, making it ab a 2% acceptance rate? Maybe gpas/sats, how many people never fill out the supplement, how many make it in off the waitlist? Thank you!
Hey guys IvyWise has posted that UCLA decisions will be coming out on 3/21 at 5 PM PST. (Check it out: https://blog.■■■■■■■■■■■/blog-0/class-of-2021-regular-decision-notification-dates) Any idea where they got this/whether this is true?
@wormholes I’d doubt what IvyWiise says… the site they link to is the UCLA decision notification date page, which still says “Decisions for most freshman applicants will be available by late March, 2017”
@wormholes If it doesn’t come out on the 17th then our best bet is probably that exact time you posted
I’m curious & confused where they got that. I can’t find anything to back it up tho
Does anyone know if we get an email saying “your applications status has been updated” or if we have to go to the site and check everyday?
Decisions won’t come out for at least 2 weeks so not sure what we would be checking every day for on portal now. Sure, starting 3/17 or so we’ll be checking every day!
@apark004 they probably send an email like that a little after the portal is actually updated (1-2 days after maybe?). Lol we won’t need to check everyday. Decisions for sure won’t come out until (at least) the 17th but most likely on the 24th. We can check everyday from there, but don’t worry about checking so much. Just always check back on the thread & people will say when it’s up
@“Wilt Chamberlain”
Do you have a link to the confirmation?
**i posted this on another thread but I figured I might as well put it here just for more opinions!
Does anyone know what percentage of students who receive the supplement request actually get in? I got the request last month, but my stats are low for UCLA standards so I was really surprised because I was under the idea that I was going to get straight up rejected. I only know of one other person from my school who got it and we both applied under polysci, which we thought was a weird coincidence. Best of luck to everyone in the next two weeks though, this is a stressful time!
@dancingsloth ucs send out supplemental requests if you are a borderline applicant, make sure you put a lot of effort in to the supplemental application and that might bump you into the acceptance pool
^^yeah if you don’t get the supplemental application request its probably because your decision is definite and already made. if you received an alumni scholarship email, you’re 70-80% likely to be admitted, as you have some of the top gpa/test scores.
No supplement request. No email. (;
28 act 3.9 gpa so it’s so iffy for me :(( ahhh the wait is killing me
I am an international student!! 100/90 gpa( 92/100 in 11th grade, 91/100 in 10th grade and 96/100 in 12th grade first semester), 1320 SAT(new), 1920 SAT(old) and very strong extracurriculars(Cornell publication and other publications, surgery experiences, community works, mathematics and biology awards got degree in these and so on… I have 30 written on UC application and a lot in my CV that is in my website) and very strong essays(talked about my sister in UCLA and how we were together since we were born and how we got separated this year because of UCLA, my community work, my passion for biology and mathematics) Applied to biology major. Got no supplemental essay request or something!
guys if we got the alumni scholarship invite by email (twice, actually, throughout February) can I assume I’m likely getting in? I mean it’s a 70-80% acceptance rate and given to people with top gpas & scores on a first place… and if anything, I thought my ECs were the most outstanding part of my application (likely the reason for why I thought I’d even be accepted in the first place). so yeah…is it bad to feel confident?
Although I feel we shouldn’t feel too confident I’m in the same situation. Got those two emails for the alumni scholarship and a regents scholarship invite to apply. With these two things and my rest of my application I’m almost 90% sure I’ll be accepted yet I don’t want to feel this confident because I’m afraid I’m going to be disappointed at the end. @allima
