I’m sorry to hear it. In lieu of a JC your student might try ASU, which is still accepting applications and gives a fair amount of money to out of state students. A friend’s son did that and will graduate this year with honors. An admission decision will come within days and the scholarship offer shortly after. This is the scholarship estimator https://scholarships.asu.edu/estimator eta: ASU has a ton of CA students.

Daughter was accepted from Maryland to the art college! So excited for her!!

  • 4.0 uw gpa (I don’t know what it translated to with UCLA’s weighting) with heavy AP and dual enrollment
  • strong art portfolio and lots of art awards, including an international one
  • strong STEM focus in her academics with all 5s on AP exams

Congratulations to all who received good news today! If you didn’t, please know that with 146,000 applications, this was more of a lottery than a college admissions process. They could have filled multiple freshman classes with highly qualified students from that number of applicants.

■■■■ i might actually be dumb… i got accepted and realized the reason why i don’t have my financial aid award is because i forgot to “submit” my fafsa form after adding UCLA to my list

Accepted OOS CS. 5.0 weighted UC GPA, 15+ APs, some olympiad/humanities/research ECs. PIQs were decent but not my best probably. Really surprised I got in - didn’t think my profile merited CS, which has such a crazy low acceptance rate, but I’ll take it.
