UCLA Double Major and Unit Cap

I have a few questions regarding taking a double major. Here is some pertinent information.

Major: CS&E
Prospective Double: Applied Math or Math of Computation
Transfer student (all but 2 lower div prereqs are done for both primary and prospective major)
Lots of overlap (tech breadth will be Engineering Math, Probability theory is already required for CS&E, etc)
At the end of the day, it looks like I’ll only need an additional 7-8 classes (exactly 32 units) to double major after considering the overlap.

Can anyone confirm the following?

  1. Max 20 units of upper div overlap between majors (more important for MoC than it is for AM)
  2. All 12 units of Tech Breadth are also allowed to overlap (so from 1. and 2., a total of 32 overlapping units)
  3. The unit cap is 216 (I’ve read this is for L&S, is it the same for Engineering?)

Also a question:
Will UCLA approve this plan if I expect to finish in 3 years (9 quarters)? As of now, the plan looks like 7 quarters anyway (so I’m already starting into year 3 whether I double or not). FWIW I did receive the Regents Scholarship (so I have priority registration and double majors/minors are encouraged).

Is there anything else I should consider? I have a spreadsheet with all the numbers/classes/etc and it comes really close to the 216 unit cap, but I really wanna double major and I’ll do whatever it takes to make it work.

Thanks!

as a UCLA student it’s time to start working the system. On the flyer at http://www.admission.ucla.edu/Prospect/PDFs/UCLA-Scholarship.pdf they list a coordinator for the Regents Scholar program. Email and ask; if they don’t know then they ought to direct you to someone who does.
