I really want to double major in math and Computer Science. I have some questions regarding this decision.

1- I know that there is a maximum unit cap of 216 units at UCLA. By the time I'm done with the requirements of CS in college of engineering, I will have passed 201 units. I still need to take at least 8 more courses in Mathematics to double major after that. Is this possible? Has anyone done it before?

2- Since CS is in College of Engineering, does the university accept another major from L&S?

Any answer is much appreciated.

for #1, since youre in cs, i assume you have quite a bit of ap credit, which causes your credits to artificially become inflated. if thats the case, then counselors will let you break the limit, if thats not the case, then it’ll be tough to do.
for #2, the answer is yes.
overall though, glhf, youre probably not gonna graduate in 12 quarters. also, no significant advantages to double majoring in math if youre already set on cs (unless you already have a specific career path in mind)

Thanks for your response it helped a lot.

I also found out that I can take up to 6 mathematics classes as Technical Breadth and Tech&Science Breadth. This will allow me to double major in CS and Mathematics of Computation with overall 223 quarter units. It’s not guaranteed of course, but I really want to do it.
