My son just got accepted to UCLA and wants to switch from Applied Math to Civil Engineering...Here are the questions:
1. Is it going to take 5 years to get an engineering degree due to budget cut class issues? Should he stay Applied Math/Science?
2. Should he go to UCSD since he's been accepted there for Engineering since they are ranked higher?

We're not sure UCLA will let him switch from his major so that may make his decision. Any advice is appreciated. Trying to calculate finances...can you take GE through concurrent enrollment at Community Colleges ..is that an option? I've heard his AP courses may not help with GE requirements.
