ChemEng program at UCLA has been there for a while now...anyone know why it's still sitting at #24, hasn't even cracked the top 15?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Chemical Engineering isn't a lucrative industry in SoCal.

For your CS classes, did you ever use Codemate with your textbook? Because it's already used on USED books, is it worth buying brand new books just for the Codemate?

Nope, never...
Did the CS department change the CS 31 textbook already?

I wonder if ANYONE actually uses the CDROMs that come with the textbooks...

We've actually moved up four spots this year -- not bad!
The rest of the 2007 engineering rankings will be posted when they become available.

I think with the new specialites and stuff we can move higher

i didn't know usc engineering was strong. for graduate rankings, usc viterbi is ranked higher than caltech.

W-T-F

The US News graduate engineering ranking of USC remains an isolated phenomenon. Viterbi has been artificially elevated due to its extraordinary research expenditures (surpassing Caltech and UCLA), measured both in raw dollars and in dollars per faculty member. However, HSSEAS surpasses Viterbi in almost every other ranking criteria (peer assessment score, recruiter assessment score, admission rate, average GRE Quantitative score), along with peer institutions such as Cornell and UCSD which also share better reputations than USC. Luckily, though, US News is becoming aware of the Viterbi anomaly; USC has tumbled from its apogee of 6th in 2003 to 9th in 2007, while UCLA has conversely climbed from 17th in 2003 to 15th in 2007. It's no wonder that UCLA nevertheless outranks USC in undergraduate engineering -- research dollars don't get factored into the rankings.

seems like Electrical is the highest ranked...or is it Aerospace?

flopsy:

Any undergrad CS or CSE rankings?

US News doesn't include Computer Science in its undergraduate rankings since they categorize it as a science rather than as an engineering discipline; thus, their only Computer Science rankings are at the graduate level (UCLA moved up to 13th this year). However, it posts rankings of undergraduate Computer Engineering departments, which I hope to find soon.
