Hey everyone, I was just accepted last night to both UCLA and UCSD for Mech. Engineering. I’m still waiting on Berkeley and USC for their decision but at the moment I’m curious as to what the differences are between UCLA and UCSD’s schools of engineering. Like to know if anyone has any experience or opinions of which engineering school is better.
Thanks!
Congrats!!!
I’m commenting on this thread because my bf is facing the same issue (he got into UCSD and UCLA for mechanical engineering). He has no idea which school’s program is regarded as better; on most engineering college rankings, UCLA is just above UCSD, but I see a lot of of threads that contend that UCSD’s engineering program is more robust (especially for ME) and that engineering recruiters favor UCSD over UCLA. I have no idea if that is true, or if it is just UCSD people fanboying.
He’ll find out in the coming weeks if he got into Berkeley and Stanford, which would make this all a moot point, but if it comes down to UCLA vs. UCSD he is lost about where he’ll get a better education and be better poised to get into graduate schools or get a good job straight out of undergrad. Maybe it’s the same from both, assuming you have good grades and got involved in research?
I would like to know more about the differences as well. I’ve looked at the course lists and it seems like UCLA’s electrical engineering is somewhat more broad.
Does anyone know if one school is better for research?
@reygun Thanks! Yeah I figure the two schools are pretty equal when it comes to undergrad stuff. Really can’t go wrong with either. I was just curious to see if any one has any personal experience…and yeah I’m in the same boat, If I get into either Berkeley or USC then my selection would then be between those two.
