Soo, I've been accepted to UCLA as a civil and environmental engineering major. When I was applying, I didn't really realize what I wanted to do and chose this on a whim. Now, however, I'm concerned that this major might be too demanding and will prevent me from participating in the social aspects that I had hoped to join in (i.e. sororities, clubs, etc.) and was considering a change in major. I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight into how demanding an engineering major is and possibly some insight into the UCLA social scene.

One of my good friends in undergrad double majored in Materials Science & Engineering and Biomedical Engineering, the president of his fraternity, and played on our school’s football team.

If you can manage your time well you won’t have a problem.

My son was a CE major, vice president of a Fraternity, and had plenty of socializing as an undergrad. And he socializes even more now that he is a grad student and has extra free time.

I’m a current cee major at ucla (hence the username). Sorry, but there’s really no set answer to your question. It all depends on you personally.
