UCLA Fall '20 Transfer Waitlist Thread

Will I get rescinded if I got the offer and don’t pass one of my class?

@Ruohuih I am also wondering the same thing, although I believe the answer is yes.

Seems like a possibility since not passing is equivalent to an F. If you have a good reason, they might not rescind you.

@transfer20! Thanks for clearing that, the reason I said my second statement was that in the mid-June I received that there is no place for me to be accepted. So they probably go major by major.

I realllyyyyy wish they would release the first wave tomorrow ?

^same

Hopefully Memorial Day won’t push back the acceptances off the waitlist any further.

Hey, I am just curious @UCLAhopeful24 what does "ehh size " mean ?

Are there any people who get acceptance from waitlist today ??
If you did, yell it out loud!!

Hey guys,

I know some of us were hoping that we would hear back today and didn’t. I was looking at the calendar from last year and noticed that Memorial Day wasn’t on May 25th, which is why they probably heard back on this date. Even if they had planned on releasing on May 25th this year too, no one would have been in office at the college to send out the results. So, I’m thinking maybe we’ll hear back tomorrow at the earliest…

No one’s gotten off the waitlist? Dang

ughhh the wait is agonizing. If I got in, I don’t even know that I would go, it’s just the UNKNOWN lol

It means that UCLA’s waitlist isn’t very small or very big. In 2016 for example they waitlisted 5000, about 3000 opted in, and 278 were ultimately accepted. UC Berkeley’s waitlist is much smaller and UC Irvine’s is in the 10,000 range.

It is however very difficult to get new data on this year by year. I read somewhere that the amount of UCLA waitlisted students that are later accepted has been stable, or if anything, increased since 2016. Hope that made sense.

Edit: totally forgot to mention that this was for freshmen but I personally believe that for transfers the % of applicants being waitlisted, opting in, and being accepted is similar.

I remember earlier in the thread someone mentioned the overall waitlist transfer acceptances for 2019. There were 1984 waitlist offers, 1273 opted in, and 459 were admitted. 24,121 applied, 5,335 were admitted, and 3,383 enrolled in the fall. Whether these numbers are accurate or not is beyond me, but when I called admissions I remember the admissions representative stating about 5% of applicants are waitlisted so I am assuming there is at least some truth to this. Considering the waitlist letter in the portal stated that about 26,000 applied, and 5% of that is 1300, I am hoping our chances of being admitted are high. Also, about 700 international transfer students are also usually admitted, of which about 500 attend, which considering the pandemic, can potentially clear up more spots for applicants on the waitlist. I just hope things play out in our favor!

  • I know this a bit late, but I just decided to complete this for the future reference of waitlisted students (:

Questions: After viewing the past UCLA transfer waitlist threads, I noticed that not too many pre-politcal science majors got off and admitted, hopefully this year it is different!

Do you guys know if I can update my spring grade?

I got waitlisted and I did TAP. Am I on the waitlist for my second choice major? Cause I didn’t finish my pre-reqs for the second choice major(comparative lit). I always thought I am on the waitlist for Econ major which is my first choice major.

@emmyemmye UCLA doesn’t use the second choice major. They only will admit you for your first choice.

@kaybb12 @emmyemmye You can be waitlisted for your alternate major. It is best to contact your CCC counselor to UCLA to determine whether or not you were waitlisted for your primary or alternate major. However, I believe this only applies to TAP Certification applicants.

Anybody get off the waitlist today?
