Hi @mikeslater I got the same email from Financial Aid. I called admissions they didn’t know anything about it. Did you call anyone? do you have any more info?
@mahi1308 sorry I’m just seeing this! I emailed admissions and this was their reply:
"Thank you for your email.
Financial aid sent out a mass email to all students, including waitlisted students. We apologize for the misleading language, but our records indicate you are still being considered on the waitlist. Please note, if there is a change to your decision, you will be notified via email to check your decision site. We recommend that you regularly check your email (including the spam/junk folder) and log into the My Application Status site for any updates.
Sincerely,
UCLA Undergraduate Admission"
Seems like it was just an error and doesn’t really mean anything unfortunately.
Hey everyone, check this out if you’d like to do some math on your chances and to get a bit of a clearer picture on the applications:
Just in case it could be of interest to anyone.
what does interest changing mean? and does this data only effect TAP students?
@givmethemail the first section of the document is titled “UCLA Overall Application Trends,” which would indicate that it is data for the overall set of applicants, not just TAP students. There is a section below titled “TAP-Specific Trends” that would indicate that the data there is only regarding TAP students. Also, “interesting changes” is displaying percentage increases for the amount of applicants in those specific majors. As I recall, you’re a stats major, correct? If so, you can probably reference this link to get an idea of the applicants per major along with the acceptance rates and yield per major (which would give you amount of spaces in the major if you multiply the percentages). https://www.admission.ucla.edu/prospect/Adm_tr/Tr_Prof19_mjr.htm Of course, there are also other variables at play, so if you are into multivariate analysis you can look into this data also along with the links and go from there using other tools such as this one on the UC system website: https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/fall-enrollment-glance By the way, their site is full of many other useful data tools! Again, just in case anybody here is a stats and probabilities enthusiast also! There are many inferences that can be constructed by analyzing and cross-referencing the data, such as capacities, enrollment targets, etc. I’m sure you can also devise your own strategies, too! Statistical analysis is pretty awesome!
That helps. I applied as stats major so I want to know more about the meaning of those data. Thank you~
Has anybody else received any sort of update on their waitlist status?
I think its too late to get any good update later…
UCLA admits 1000 more transfer students but unfortunately this doesnt include international students.
Nothing yet, the other thread they posted “rejected”
http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/2178754/ucla-class-of-2024-waitlist-discussion/p115#Form_Body
Thats even worse T T
@mahi1308 Thanks for posting the link to that thread! It seems like there are also a lot of housing issues going on for the school, so that may be another reason for the wait. Could also account for the lower international acceptance rates @givmethemail
What I heard from others was they wont be able to evaluate the transcripts till late October…
Any other portal updates?!
Has anyone received a portal update?
they may give us rejection in the middle of this month? I dont think anyone can get in at this time. maybe one or two for unpopular programs
Finally got my rejection today at 7pm EST. Oh well, USC has treated me better. Fight on!
Rejected today at around 7pm — notified through email.
Not surprised one bit. I was certainly expecting a rejection after their previous email indicating that they do not anticipate any more spots to open up during the rest of the summer. At that point, I wasn’t even checking my portal anymore.
That being said, this journey was incredibly draining. Nothing plays with your emotions more than being on the waitlist for your dream school. Give yourselves a pat on the back! A new chapter is about to begin. Take care of yourselves.
I personally am very committed to UCSD and will be moving in to my apartment in 2 weeks. Go tritons! ? ?
Hey, I dunno if you use cc anymore but I am also a ling and cs major who was waitlisted. I submitted my intent for the waitlist today. Mind if I pm you?
