UCLA Fall 2020 Transfer Thread

@anahitsydney I am pretty stats needed to be completed by fall?? unless you took another math class like calculus but statistics is considered major prep for comm. so I am not sure lol someone correct me if I am wrong tho

Good luck everyone tomorrow! I got into UCB with a 3.6 for Molecular & Cell Biology, I did honors and am TAP certified for UCLA/UCB! I hope I get in tomrrow.

@corsair341 @cccstudent32 @dumplingsuwu Yeah, I hope we get in too. I think it is a cool major with the internship requirement in the senior year. Sadly, I feel like my chances of getting accepted are low for some reason, I got only As and B, and have the IGETC done, but Im trying not to get my hopes up lol!

@anahitsydney Thank you! I am not sure if people will have them done because I haven’t talked to a lot of Comm majors applying to UCLA to be honest. I don’t think it’ll significantly hurt your chances but like @uclagorl said, did you take any other math courses? Also, I did complete TAP

@uclagorl I’ve taken a UC transferable Math course. I just know that we had to complete 4 of 7 major prep courses which Stats was one of the options for.

Are you also a Communication major??

Any other Pure math majors?

@oceanman32 what major prep did you complete for math? Also, how many units do you have in total? I’m a data theory major with all major prep done by spring and I barely have 60 units including AP. No IGETC.

@oceanman32 Also for data theory, its a new major so I don’t think there are upperclassman with that major. Hopefully, that helps my acceptance chances along with the fact that math isn’t impacted.

Math Major will have 77 units by the end of this semester, currently have 67. I’ve finished all of my math courses and got As in all except Discrete math (got a B in the class), and im taking my last major prep course this semester which is a physics class. Nonetheless I’m still very worried.

Did all Communication students finish 7 prep courses? or just the required 4??

Did all Communication students finish 7 prep courses? or just the required 4??

Hi all!
I figured I’d make a post here in preparation for tomorrow.

Applied from a CCC
Major: Nursing
GPA: 3.73
Notable ECs: Nursing home volunteer, leadership position in a service club, paid internship for a civil rights org., junior olympic/state athlete, member of cultural clubs
Essays: Not bad, my supplemental application was much much much better
Rec letters (theyre required for my major): Both really good
IGETC: Yes
Extras: Multilingual, ethnic minority

Accepted: SJSU
Rejected: UCI
Waiting: UCLA, UCSB (Bio TAG), NYU, USF

I wish everyone luck! I have a strong feeling tomorrow is going to be the day.

4.0 Biz Econ major expecting a big fat rejection tomorrow. I’m assuming everybody in this major has a 3.9+ or above so it probably leaves it up to ECs and essays to decide who makes the cut. In which case, my essays and ECs are mediocre so I’ll just accept my fate.
Good luck everybody!!!

Your GPA is definitely competitive. I think you are looking at freshmen gpa because a 3.81/5.0 being the 25th percentile sounds more accurately versus 3.81/4.0.

This links lets you compare with last years transfer gpa and stats.

Best of luck to everyone

what time did decisions come out for the previous years?

@alvie0 Usually around 5 pm

Last year UCLA decisions came out at 3 PM!

I know decisions are coming out soon but I thought I’d post my stats since I haven’t really seen my major within this thread.

I know my GPA is low but I am first generation, never failed or withdrawn from any classes and have maintained a 4.0 since Fall 2019-Winter 2020; grades have gradually risen, I have only earned two C’s out of 22 classes. I also will have earned my degrees within a year and three months. I included in my application that I work full-time because I am putting myself through community college, I live at home though. I am also a full-time student, and I will have completed all required major prep courses spring 2020.

@frogluvr hi! I’m in the same boat as you–same major and missing one class too. do you know if we had to finish all of those courses on ASSIST? do you think it’ll hurt us? :frowning:

Does anyone know if the decisions are coming today or on Friday?
