What’s your major? I’m actually a hopeful transfer from another UC too!! Fingers crossed we get in next week
From what I understand, UC to UC applicants have to have a really good reason to transfer. Us getting in is “easier” than getting in from any Cal states/OOS/privates schools.
I am not sure “a reason” is that necessary to transfer UC to UC. I did not put any reason why I am applying to transfer in my application yet I got into UCSB. I am applying from UCI btw for chemistry.
I’m just replying to someone who asked about UC to UC transfers. I have three friends who tried to transfer from my campus to UCLA and that’s just one piece of advice they gave me. That said, I’m not an admissions officer lol. That’s just what I heard about UCLA…I don’t know about admissions at other UC campuses though!
I was accepted to UCB, UCI, and UCSB for political science. I am TAP certified for UCLA and my GPA is a 3.89. I had good EC’s, work experience, and 8/10 essays. All of my major prep and IGETC is also complete. Is it really true that you can only get into either Berkeley or UCLA? Or do you think it would be different in my case?
I don’t think that’s true at all. I’ve heard of plenty of people getting into both. Not sure where that rumor came from. However, I think it really depends on the major and the person. Sometimes a persons essays and personality work best at Berkeley and not at UCLA or vice versa. Sometimes they work well at either. Good luck to you!
I think it’s more important for UCLA because they read the essays, while UCSB does not. But UCLA also explicitly has UC to UC transfers as #2 priority behind CCC transfers, so it’s not like you need a SUPER strong reason, but you’re better off with reasons beyond prestige. I don’t know my decision yet but I talked about the major I applied to at UCLA, ECs, and campus atmosphere and how I would fit in.
yeah I think for many cases the essays make a big difference. My gpa is mediocre yet I got into UCI and rejected from UCSB even though for my major UCI is much more competitive, the reason behind it being UCI actually read my essays while at UCSB I was filtered early on based on only my gpa
^ !! PIQs definitely play a huge role in the process imo. I got waitlisted at Davis (which doesn’t read essays) and accepted to Cal (which does) even as a low GPA non-CC, non-UC-to-UC transfer. I truly think that what got me into Cal were my essays! I also know people who have been accepted to both out of high school so I don’t think the myth about being accepted to either UCLA or Cal is true.
hi everyone. so on my application, i said that i would not have my igetc complete. however, I am now just finding out that I will in fact have my igetc completed. will this help me in any way or does this not matter anymore? just trying to figure out if I should mention it. i know it’s too late already but I just wanted to try if it was worth it. in the portal, it says that I can’t talk about academic changes. i didn’t change classes or anything. i just found out that I’m completing igetc. if anyone can please advise me on this, that would be great.
hold on till next week everyone! I’m wishing everyone luck!
Thanks for providing this data!!
We have applied for EE and CS from another UC campus. Got rejected by UCB. So I am wondering if it is too hard for UC to UC transfer. Hope we have good luck next week…
I applied as a Computer engineering major.
GPA 3.85
Acceped: UCSC, UCSB, Cal poly pomona, UBC (Vancouver), CSULB
Rejected: Cal poly slo, UCB

My first choice is UCLA but after getting rejected from UCB I feel like it’s a long shot.
Good luck next week y’all

I’m an art major too! I got rejected from DMA back in high school but I’m trying again now as a Studio Arts major. I’m also considering a double major in Art History, but I also put it down as my second choice major. Do you think I will be considered for both?
