UCLA financial aid - Late

@Dagoberto - Blue and Gold can actually be better than Cal Grant if you have a very low EFC.

From UC site,

"What’s covered

If you are eligible, your systemwide tuition and fees will be fully covered by scholarship or grant money. The plan combines all sources of scholarship and grant awards you receive (federal, state, UC and private) to go toward covering your tuition and fees.

Students with greater financial need can qualify for even more grant support to help defray other educational expenses (like books, housing, transportation, etc.)."

Work study is like getting a part-time Job, except it’s on campus and if your paycheck is less than $350 Federal and state taxes are not taken out of it (this is the case for me I’ve had work study at my CCC for 2 years now.)

Also places on campus that need workers are a lot more likely to be enthusiastic about hiring you because you paycheck is subsidized, meaning they only pay a small portion of it while the government pays the rest.

Oh but there is a catch you can’t work more than 20 hours per week as part of Federal Work Study.

Oh and this is from the UCLA site for financial aid i found how to help my friend on my own,

"Other appeals

There are other situations that can be grounds for financial aid appeals – for example, if you marry or divorce, if you missed the FAFSA filing deadline, or if you aren’t meeting academic progress requirements to maintain your financial aid once on campus. Your best bet is to contact your campus financial aid office to learn more."

She can appeal for an on time FAFSA consideration.

She can appeal, but it better be a legitimate reason

This is her first ever FAFSA submission, she never submitted one for her CC, she received her W-2 from her work extremely late (Mid-March) and her Father whom she needed to assist with her FAFSA submission because she’s under 24 and currently living with him has been out of the country from February until 3 weeks ago.

It’s not that she purposely procrastinated it’s that she believed that she needed her w-2 and her dad’s paperwork all at once before filing.
