My daughter just got off the waitlist! She got into UCSD originally and was so excited to go there for last few months…now she’s torn.
She applied to UCLA as a sociology major but wants to change to Econ now. Anyone know what the steps are and if Econ will be OK? For UCSD, it was so simple - just choose the different major in a drop down box during the acceptance process. She says for UCLA, it seems a bit more complicated but doesn’t lay out exactly what needs to be done (she’s still reading up though).
If sociology and economics at UCLA are in the same college, then your daughter will have no issue switching into it. I’m sure there are multiple ways to switch. I’m planning to switch once my fall quarter starts by talking to an advisor. But it shouldn’t be difficult, as the majority of college students switch majors throughout their college career multiple times.
Much to our shock and surprise, my daughter just got in off waitlist. She had committed to UCB and we (parents) are super torn. I think she will pick UCLA but her major (public health) is not offered there. She is on a gap year and had been on waitlist last year but was not accepted and then reapplied this year. We love Cal and live close by so this is a tough one!
Daughter just got off the waitlist!
OOS, 4.0UW, 4.8W. Accepted in L&S with Neuroscience major. After 16 applications and 13 rejections and 1 waitlist, she got her first choice. She was in tears.
Now the part where I may be in tears…does anyone know if financial aid award notification is soon to follow?
Congrats to everyone who have just been admitted. Are admission officers working on Saturday? Have you heard any engineering admissions from the waitlist?
There’s been quite a few people getting off the waitlist it seems like. The waitlist admission rate from previous years typically hovered around 2%. Maybe this year that percentage is higher?
My daughter got off the waitlist this morning!!! We are both in shock, lol.
In-state, 3.9 UW
Applied undecided L&S, but since that time she chose sociology w/ a minor in photography, and stated that in her LOCI.
SIR’d to UC Davis
