congrats to all of you who got in!! Do you guys know by when you have to accept it?
Child got off the waitlist this morning. In-state. Pre social sciences. In absolute shock.
I got off the Waitlist this morning too!! I hope everybody the best of luck!!!
Looks like mostly girls getting off the waitlist⊠maybe thatâs one of the institutional priority?
I am a female and I am still waiting for mechanical eng.
Wait so they tell you if you are denied before the waitlist closes? Or do all the denials come once they decide to close the waitlist?
I have always wondered why it seems like females are mainly the ones getting off the waitlist. I thought there was a gender imbalance at UCLA with about 60% females and only 40% males so I assumed that they would try to balance that by offering admission to males on the waitlist.
well not all females got in, but most of the people who got in were females⊠so maybe one of UCLAâs goal is to have gender balance and theyâre trying to pick more females to make it up?
Does the waitlist also consider alternate majors or do they try to place you in your first-choice major?
Wouldnât it make more sense to admit males to make up for the imbalance since itâs 60/40 in favor of females? Son just told me he found out two more girls who got in this morning and one was for CompSci and Engineering.
wow I didnât know pendulum has swung so far: University of California, Los Angeles has a total undergraduate enrollment of 32,119 (fall 2021), with a gender distribution of 40% male students and 60% female students .
This is not the case for engineering.
Son will not have a chance. Not first gen not low income Asian male.
maybe UCLAâs Class of 2027 has a gender ratio of 59/41 while their institutional goal is 60% females?
Possibly, but even then a 1% discrepancy wouldnât mean that much. Son says most UCLA 2027 social media pages with committed students are females too. In the grand scheme of things, just hoping they start admitting more males off the waitlist since from what Iâve seen itâs mainly females.
apparently first-generation and females are top priority for UCLA
just chiming in but theres mainly females posting about those pages for all colleges, not just UCLA. From what iâve seen guys are less inclined to post things on instagram in general (also some pages make you pay to post)
Yep, thatâs what I told my son since all that social media stuff is more for the females. Still hoping for good news soon though.
as a guy, me too lol
