UCLA Freshman Class of 2027 Waitlist/Appeal Thread

Has anyone gotten a denial yet? Or do those only come out once they close the waitlist?

UCLA has an institutional goal to increase the females in Engineering too: 28.8% in 2020 → 29.9% in 2021 → 30.6% in 2022.

Seems like they typically give you a week to accept/reject your offer.

They will usually send a denials to all students remaining on the waitlist and then announce they are closing the waitlist.

According to UCLA, they do not consider alternate majors in their admission review. I have not seen anyone from the waitlist being admitted into their alternate major, but there is always a first time.

The UC application allows you to choose an alternate major, but we only guarantee the review of first-choice majors.

Son got off waitlist this morning. OOS for Business Econ

Yes I have this question too. Were all the decisions that were released today at the same time this morning. The only time I saw for today was I believe 7:57pst. Was everybody else’s the same? Also are they still going to release decisions throughout the day? Or, because it does seem like it was a small “wave” would they not release some for a while.

I think they push out a new wave of acceptances every 7 days. I got off the waitlist on April 29, and yesterday was the last day to submit my SIR. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that there was another wave of acceptances today, the day right after my SIR deadline.

Do you think they reviewed all the majors once and released all the open spots? If so, the remaining waitlisters have slimmer and slimmer chance from now on.

what order do they release waitlists? by major?by last name?

There is no particular order when releasing waitlist admits. They release when they have spots that open up and need to fill. Not all waitlisted admits will accept so after the 7 day deadline, if there are still spots open, they will send out more admits. This continues until they have reached their target enrollment for the campus.

Why are the waitlists open until August? Do they offer spots for the ones who withdrew at the last minute or didnt pay the first part of the tuition?

The waitlist closed August 19th last year but the year before it closed near the end of July. They will close the waitlist once they meet their target enrollment so it can be anytime.

Yes. My daughter listed her fall grades, a recent award she received, and then explained 1) why she wants UCLA in particular and 2) what she would contribute as a community member.

I’ve noticed lots of engineering students getting off the waitlist … is who gets off the waitlist based on availability for each major or institutional priorities they’d like to reach for each major? I haven’t seen any Psychology majors get off the waitlist yet …
