I really think the education that u get in SD is not inferior than UCLA.

I even heard that finding a job in SD area is quite easy after graduating UCSD b/c is considered awesome in that area. But thats for Bio majors b/c SD is one of the better bio programs.

UCSD is in La JOlla, which is somewhat outside of San diego, its a little bit north, and in between san diego and lajolla there are enough neighborhoods that are safe and affordable.

Yes, I'm glad you noted downtown, since La Jolla is part of the City of San Diego. Also, I disagree that there are "enough neighborhoods that are safe and affordable" in between San Diego and La Jolla. Everything is very expensive; I would see areas north of San Diego that are cheaper, not within the city.

Getting a studio in either place will be very expensive BECAUSE of location.

bfired2: spot is only secured after $450....newcomers usually live in triples in first quarter after that it might change...it's all based on seniority. I don't really care because I would be living in triple in dorms anyway.

i would go to ucsd if I were you then, it makes much more financial sense than going to ucla... its just a step down in education and undergrad doesn't matter much anyway.

there are other reasons, my situation is very complex, there are a million pros for UCLA , and the primary con being finances.

You can find safe affordable rent between san diego and la jolla, like claremont, pb, mission beach, point loma, kearny mesa, all of those places are safe... and you can get a studio-one bedroom under 1k definatley.

I cant say the same for the UCLA area, most 1 bedrooms are well over 1k

Aubstopper, consider yourself very fortunate. You're the first transfer that I know of to get a univ apt. What did you list as your prefences, if you don't mind my asking? I would love to have a univ apt...even as a triple..it doesn't look like it's gonna happen though.

i put basically all of my choices as options within the university apartments (except for like maybe one or 2)...the 2 bed/2 bath/3 people was actually like my 5th choice (i wanted at the time a single or a studio)...but i'm happy because i can meet more peeps this way.

Again, does anyone want to trade their Rieber Vista or Terrace for Sunset Village. Sunset is closer to campus and a bit more private and apartment like for those you who don't know the housing well. I will pay to do the trade and a good amount of money too so it's definitely worth your while if you need some cash.

i got a triple in hitch. im an international transfer student and i reckon it was around about my 3/4th choice. anyone got anymore info on hitch?

Hilgard with 4 person room, I really wanted to live on campus this really ruins my excitement. Anyone know how to change without accepting? I would take the crappiest conditions on-campus, to be honest.

did everyone get something on their list of prefrences?

i for example only listed two options, single studio, and single residence hall suite, so i wasnt tooo surprised to get a triple.... ... did all the other people whogot triples actually list it as a choice.

NOPE. nowhere did i say triple..and i put apartments like different combinations of apartments as all my top choices...plaza was like last choice and still not a TRIPLE
