<p>Is anyone doing the UCLA Institutes Sci | Art NanoLab summer program? Cuz i think I am!</p>
<p>also, it's not too late for people to apply! deadline's April 15th, and for me they answered my application in less than a day. only an essay needed, and then no recs/transcripts/etc... </p>
<p>Or does anyone have anything to say about this program? hmmm...</p>
<p>I’m most likely going too! Maybe I’ll see you there. 
But I’m still deciding between this or just taking classes at a local community college. (I wanted to do both a summer program and take classes but there are always scheduling conflicts). Have you heard any opinions on this program/if it would look good on an application?</p>
<p>And did you get in without sending them a teacher rec? I’m having huge problems getting a rec right now. My teachers either refuse to send them through e-mail, are having family problems right now and don’t have time etc.</p>
<p>Oooh, that’d be cool! and for me, just the idea of staying in an atmosphere like at ucla would be cool, with living in the dorms and everything.
unfortunately, i haven’t heard anything about this program, so still feel kinda… iffy about it.</p>
<p>yeah, i basically got in without sending a teacher rec, because i sent in my essay at 11 PM, then the next day i asked my teacher to write me a rec, but that afternoon i got an acceptance/confirmation letter. so i basically asked my teacher to write me a rec for nothing, since he didn’t start working on it until way later that day.</p>
<p>so it’s fine to just write a nice essay. XD</p>

And what happens if you want to apply for the stem cell program as well? Did you have to write anything for that?</p>

<p>Hey, how do you know if you got accepted or not? What does the email say? Because I applied and I got this message today from <a href=“mailto:institutes@summer.ucla.edu”>institutes@summer.ucla.edu</a>:</p>
<p>“Your application for Sci | Art NanoLab was approved. Your registration number is XXXXX.
In order to secure your place in the program you must pay your student account in full by retrieving your online registration form. Until payment has been received your registration can not be processed, or your enrollment confirmed.
If your program fills before you submit payment, you will not be placed on the Waiting List automatically. If this occurs, you must retrieve your online registration form and request to be placed on the Waiting List.”</p>
<p>And then it goes on about financial aid and yadadada…</p>
<p>And then I got an email that says:</p>

<p>Did I get accepted or not? Because I still haven’t paid the $100 yet… And I emailed them and asked if I got accepted and I got the message above. I’m not sure if this was coincidental or not… Does anyone know if I got accepted? Thanks!</p>
<p>I’m pretty sure you got in; I got accepted into the program and was asked to pay the $100 fee too (I haven’t yet). Somehow, I am beginning to doubt that the program is as “highly competitive” as the website says it is… Does anyone know about this?</p>
<p>yeah that does mean that you get in. and yeah, it seems very… not competitive at all. but ah well, i’ll just hope for some fun for one week this summer…</p>
