UCLA Official Countdown

@philo, what are your thoughts on seanoh’s question?

@seanoh, I think it is most likely due to the fact that they aren’t posting. the same thing happened in threads last year, and it was only shown AFTER the fact that plenty of people were not able to see their financial aid and were, after all, denied. either that or, as one CCer proposed a few days ago, if we’re all neurotic enough to be here, there’s a big chance we were neurotic enough to do our best in CCC ;)

Except for this poor guy: talk.collegeconfidential.com/8013814-post56.html

He saw both his finaid and document tracking. :(

@postsecret, hm, I’m a scientist at heart, so I don’t believe in neglecting information JUST because it doesn’t support my hypothesis, but at the same time, we should be wary of that member’s credibility. first of all, he’s a new member, and second, every part of his post serves ONLY to discredit the running financial aid award theory. he smells of ■■■■■.

@justinetruant: No problem. I just took a look at his previous posts and he seemed legitimate to me. However, he seems to be one of very few (I checked through the older thread). I honestly only found 2 that said they saw the finaid/doc tracking and were rejected, so whether or not that is true, for those who see it I think it pretty much means you’re in.

… hence why I’m so afraid to check mine. I don’t know if I can handle it! Tentative congrats to everyone who can see their info!

@postsecret, it is DEFINITELY a catch-22. on one hand, we’re all anxious NOT knowing, and on the other, I feel that most of us are more neurotic now that we DO know!

ya i see my financial aid information and everything but its just so hard for me to believe that im in. i have a slightly below average GPA for my major (sociology which is highly impacted), little ECs, and personal statements i wrote in a couple hours. i guess its just so surprising cus i already had the mindset that i was just gonna go to UCSB at best. at least we wont have to wait too long now.

@justine I’m guessing all of those who claim to see it, are simply admitted. Or perhaps people who can’t see it are just ****ed and not even bothering to post.

@philosoup

im still wondering if there are any people who cannot even see this…
but i hope u are right!! thank you for the info.

I believe there’s about 4 people that couldn’t see it.

I haven’t been able to see it yet, though I haven’t seen anyone post from my major though. Just hoping that maybe I’ll be in the batch updated tomorrow. Perhaps they’re doing it by last name? Haha.

I believe they do it by school. What’s your major?

If it’s by school, then I’m screwed, since i’m doing biz econ. DX

If you didn’t fill out a FAFSA, then, unfortunately, you’re SOL for the financial aid indicator (which seems to be the most reliable one so far). You can play around with MyUCLA, but it isn’t certain that anything there indicates acceptance at this stage.

**Hey guys! So I signed in to the USRA (UCLA) page and went to the financial aid…

I believe that (what I read earlier) if I did NOT fill out financial aid or the FAFSA this year would that mean I couldn’t see the incomplete/complete thing…any thoughts?

Also, for Friday where can we check if we got accepted or rejected?**

Psych, if you didn’t fill out a FAFSA, you’ll get no financial aid information or document tracking. There is no way to tell if you have any positive OR negative indicators from financial aid unless you submitted it.

For Friday, check here: https://www.admissions.ucla.edu/Decision/Login.aspx</a></p>

@seanoh -im a socio major also, you said your gpa wasn’t very competitive…may I ask what it is?

My sister couldn’t see the fafsa info and she’s a pretty damn good applicant

@bearterritory3 - ah, you’re giving me a bit of hope. i have so much work due tomorrow, but this thread is making me really depressed

@bear, pretty damn good doesn’t always get in to UCLA, unfortunately. it is possible that her information hasn’t updated or that she accidentally made some mistake on the FAFSA when she input UCLA’s code (I know a couple people who forgot to send to UCLA and were very concerned that they couldn’t see their finaid until realizing it!)

and then justinetruant makes me depressed again. :/
