UCLA Official Countdown

@bougiebouche no I wasnt able to because of work. Did they talk about anything note worthy other than the premise of each department? I had been to others in the past. When they called you what did they say?

That sucks! Basically, it was just the dean of the arts and arch school doing a rundown of each department and congratulating us on our acceptances (or for passing the faculty portfolio reviews). After, we were all divided into each of our departments and went on a tour of the facilities, got to speak to the faculty, etc…everyone got free lunch and a free tshirt. it was nice, i’d never been to ucla before so i was pretty stoked about seeing everything. There are SO MANY f-ing resources, I felt overwhelmed.

As for the call, I was just informed that I got into the school of art but that i still have to be reviewed by the general school admissions department for academic profiling (i’m assuming they’re just making sure I have completed my IGETC, pre-reqs, etc) in order to be accepted into the school as a whole. She basically said that the call was very good news but that she couldn’t tell me that i was officially accepted because of the application process. I also spoke to a ucla rep at my cc and she said that “if the faculty wants you, you’re in.” so i’m very happy and thrilled but it’s all still just a reserved type of excitement because anything can happen!

PS: if you’re tripping over not receiving a call don’t worry because getting the invite to the open house is REALLLLLLLLY GOOD NEWS in and of itself.

wait so have they already made all their decisions for the art school?

I can only assume that they have based on the things that they said at the open house. The arts website also says that portfolio screening occurs in february so i’m sure that admissions decisions (for that specific school anyways) were made by the end of that month and we’re just barely hearing back now.

@AllFieldsAreReq,

The UCLA Summer School email goes out to all UC students…not just applicants for intercampus transfer. =/

I didn’t get an email is that bad?

^Are you currently a student studying at an UC campus?

oh no CCC. thanks

Wait so the 20th is confirmed? Ohh my god. I wonder what time of the day it’ll be… I have five consecutive hours of class on Friday. I will be paying zero attention. -__-

@newsoul the 20th and 27th are going to be my longest days ever at work…I work 12:30-9 both days. I’ll have to wait until I get home to get my decisions!!

@ColorsInTheStars why the 27th too? is it coming out in 2 batches, or all on the 20th

@college4me3uc I think he’s referring to UCB’s decision date as well.

@pinkpig0086 ok thank you!

@ColorsInTheStars, that sucks…at least we know around what time of day Berkeley will post! I’m glad my classes are over in the afternoon, god. At least you have something to distract yourself with all day? :/

Is it true UCLA is very stingy about Financial aid? supposedly last year UCI offered some dude 16k a year but UCLA didn’t give him anything.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/8138186-post26.html

I’m talking about stuff like that. That’s scary

^ that post was from 2009. i am not certain, but i think that blue and gold started in 2009. blue and gold is supposed to cover those in need at any UC. well, i hope they accept me and i can find out!

@philosoup…

i highly doubt it. it is a state school, if you need money they will give it to you. from what i’ve read here they won’t cover everything but they will at least cover tuition costs. my efc is 0 and irvine gave me like 21k and i’m hoping (praying) that ucla will at least match it. I’m just sort of worried because whenever i log into my cal grants status it’s listed as pending and it is still listing my cc as my school for next year.

^ same for me. My CC is also listed as the school of attendance. Pending cal grant renewal. I think we should be okay. :0
