UCLA or Cal

My major is geography. I applied to both ucla and cal and I think I have good chances to get in. I'm having a really hard time choosing of where to go (assuming that im accepted to both). UCLA will be a lot closer to home, but I guess Cal still has the edge at the academic level. What would you guys do in my place?

In your place, I'd wait for the acceptance letter before I lost too much sleep over it. ;)

I'd choose Cal because of it's history, location and unbeatable rep. Good luck!

I am w. ASAP, wait till u get accepted. Those schools are extremely competitive... WHat are ur stats, U in TAP?

I would like to see your proof that Cal has the academic edge.

People think because UCLA is in LA it doesn't take academics as seriously, and that is a load of crap. I have been to both areas and known people from both schools and they have been equally intelligent and educated..however the average Cal grad is a bit of a geek whereas the UCLA grad tends to be more well-rounded....where is my data for this claim...it is my experience.

exillo, ur proof is the fact that Cal is #1 public univ in AMerica. UCLA is not.

BTW, i'd never wanna go to Cal, too damn competative for me.

chill exilio, I said "I guess Cal has the edge on the academic level" just based on the national rankings. I'm not saying one is better than the other.

malagamba2k, don't take it personally. He is like that. I once said that one of the things that UC look in transfer students is completion of undergrad requirements. He started picking on my spelling and demanded proof too. Oh well.

yeah, he probably thought I was trying to say that Cal better than UCLA.

Honestly guys both UCLA and Cal are incredable schools. Either one of them is oging to give you a top notch education. I think you should decide on what campus you like more, or what type of social scene you're looking for.

1) highschoolda doesn't know anything about me.

2) malagamba made a statement without any data to back it up. And I called him on it.

3) You are referring to the US News and World Reports rankings which are questionable at best, and if you insist on using them, are not based solely on academics.

Highschoolda, I picked on you? Poor baby. This is a college board is it not? Don't blame me for calling you on your laziness in what you post here. Secondly, you never did supply any proof. Why? For one of two reasons, you are 1) Lazy and 2) in error. I'll opt for a little bit of 1 and 2.

Mala,

You asked for an opinion and I gave you one. You didn't like what you heard and you got defensive...it's your problem, not mine.

I can give a crap which school is better academically, but before you spout off with which school is better academically, you should supply some sort of corroboration.

no no exilio, you got it all wrong. I did ask for an opinion, and I actually appreciate all your comments (you, highschoolda, and ellena). But look at your coments, you're the one on the defensive!!!! plus if you look at my statement, sure the source can be questianable like you say, but that's why I said "I guess".......... don't get sore dude, you said it: this is a college board is it not?

Well if its any help to you little kids, Berkeley refers to it self as "the crown jewel" of the U.C. system in their website. They also cunduct interviews too i do believe. To weed out people. Im not sure if ucla does this. As far as data goes. Get your own. hahahahaha
